  1. Moon has been bright between the waves of rain, was like daylight at times when out with the dog.
  2. Like that, mine sometimes stands surrounded by cows licking him all over. I'm sure he considers them excellent groomers, but he does leave covered in slavers
  3. Been pretty wet here this morning, waiting for Storm Dudley to appear this afternoon. Central/Southern Scotland has warnings for wind and flooding, trains and ferries cancelled from 4pm. With Storm Eunice due to follow on the heels of Dudley it's a bleak looking few days ahead.
  4. I understand you know a bit about sheep. I've had to deal with worried stock under my responsibility as well and it's not nice. I just think something you maybe don't see is that dogs, sheep, cattle, horses etc aren't robots with only one reaction at their disposal. Just like us they make judgements in the moment that influence behaviour. In my opinion it isn't the presence of a dog that worries them, it's the dogs behaviour or attitude that they'll make the judgement on. If the dogs body language says it's no threat then they've no reason to be stressed. Please consider learning some body language before you get a gun out again.
  5. The sheep in the photo are not worried in the least, they gathered together not in fear but in expectation of being fed, they followed the dog and I happily because they know they're in no danger. I well understand both dogs and stock, and I'm sorry but I think your knowledge is lacking.
  6. How does the sheep know who the particular dog it's looking at belongs to
  7. Would you shoot this dog?
  8. Had a Willow to remove from a small river last week, "Slitrig Water" near Hawick. There was also a few stumps that had been dug out for flood prevention works nearby to break down and remove. Interesting little job.
  9. If it came to it I'd buy a gas bottle for your van before letting you into her clutches for warmth
  10. I'm beginning to understand why eggsarascal is reluctant to take David's offer of relationship help!
  11. Had a Hilka trolley jack that lasted many years of diy work problem free. It came in a case with axle stands, and wheel chocks. As I remember it was the lower end of price range from either Halfords or Screwfix.
  12. Might just be having a short break, If I see them again I'll ask! Edit. Is there any point actually, asking a mute swan a question?
  13. Met this lovely pair on the way to site this morning. Both on the white line with cars barging past either side so I blocked the road and encouraged them to fly. Wish people were more considerate.
  14. Think my arbortec trousers get repaired more often than washed! They usually get washed every couple of weeks but weekly if needed, use non bio tabs at 30 degrees and they've not faded noticeably. Washing them at higher temps might fade them quicker?
  15. I carry Cellox Clotting Granules, Israeli Bandage, CAT Tourniquet and Whistle as a personal kit. And hope that I'm able to use it if I have to. Just as important as carrying the first aid stuff, for lone working, is your planning. Particularly having someone (with a copy of your risk assessment) that you will contact at agreed intervals and if you don't respond they have the relevant details ready to raise the alarm.
  16. @Ashleygore4 Still looking?
  17. Hate it when "someone" driving the crane, with only one log to extract from a garden, twats the phone line and I get the privilege of waiting on site til the boss comes so we can fix it, while "someone" heads home! And when it's done I've still got an hour drive back home in a tractor
  18. Can I ask what happened that you were grazed by the chainsaw?
  19. And how much is the "cheaper" option of pump fuel actually costing when you factor in the 2 stroke mix and regular trips to the mechanic?
  20. Despite his claims, I reckon he's definitely sweating at the moment
  21. If he is innocent, he'd be well advised to stop behaving like he's guilty!
  22. The contact email address at the bottom is @amey.
  23. @Ashleygore4 There was an advert a few days ago, may be of interest
  24. Another vote for treehogs, like mine and not horribly expensive
