  1. Can't change a thread title either. This one will just have to run.....
  2. The definition of tree for conservation area notification is 75mm at 1.5m height, which would mean they are well into the tree category. That's not TPO though, those rules are different. Not joined up as you say.
  3. Cherries are sometimes grafted onto a different root stock, so the sucker will be from the root stock.
  4. I think the rule with black pop is that it comes up in tree guides but almost always isn't, they are so rare now. Woodland Trust reckon there are around 7000 in the UK now. But I agree, in the willow end of town this time.
  5. I can see your point of view. I have thankfully not been in the situation but if it is not resolved easily then I guess may be one for his insurance to sort out.
  6. That's why I'm thinking it's odd if the drain runs towards the road from that cover, would have to go through the BT.
  7. Says Camberley in the photo details so bit far for me to bid. Looks like a nice job though, love a no-drag/keep the chipper running dismantle like that.
  8. Can it be repaired? I'm interested in this as always paranoid working on the plastic stuff. If it's got to be replaced over a big area then surely that will be expensive?
  9. Is that a BT cover in the pavement? Got a green box there too. If it is then maybe sewer runs along under the gardens?
  10. Surely you'd be even deeper in do-do if you get the amount wrong by a factor of two though? Like I did on Saturday, multi stem willow to clear up fallen stems and repollard remaining. Thought a morning work, took all day so have to go back for the other tree. I have also just priced a leylandii removal so maybe this will be a future post on this thread.....
  11. I'd agree with this, the tree looks quite young so roots of one felled before that was planted will be nicely decaying now.
  12. If you want the most payload get a trailer. Mine is legally 2500kg payload and I can pop a few hundred kg in the back of Landy at the same time. Mostly rural work it's a brilliant combination, wouldn't be so great if all work round town. Or a proper lorry of course.
  13. Loads of red kites round here this year, quite a few people have mentioned it to me.
  14. If the decomp button is in then it will fall easier, yes, that's it doing its job. The button should pop out when the engine fires but I believe you can gently pull it out manually yourself - not done this myself though. Does it start and run?
  15. I've not used the greenmech but the 6x9 infeed on a 230 makes it much much better on hawthorn hedge than a 150.
  16. I think the 572 has done well filling the 372 shoes, though? Hopefully the 90cc will be as good.
  17. Could it have happened the other way round though, split first and then that large branch taken off to reduce weight? In other words the mitigation has already taken place so just monitor, and the crack looks old and stable to me. If everyone who looks at it recommends taking a bit off (to be sure) there will be nothing left after a while. That's what I always think about reducing end weight to reduce risk of failure, when do you stop? I'm inclined to agree removing that whole side will just cause decline or toppling of the other side so it's either do nothing, reduce end weight, or fell the whole thing as a potential danger. This one's above my pay grade though, in practice I'd look at that and recommend they get someone more qualified (and insured) to look at it.
  18. Fair point, makes sense.
  19. It's possible to overgrease a sealed bearing. Does that qualify for the sharp stick?
  20. Was it 150s that can feg up under the flywheel?
  21. I did my IPAF course with tree harness on too, as above keeping lanyard short so not able to fall. I believe you need full body for fall arrest because you might be any way up when you stop.
  22. Well thanks, next time I'm looking at an oak and someone asks me to cut it down free because it's so valuable I'll know more where I stand.
  23. I'd go hawthorn, doesn't look quite right for pear to me.
  24. Bark is still pinging a couple a day in Peterborough, not slowed down yet. Calls direct to me have slowed down though. I wonder if people are hanging on to cash in case they are going to be able to spend on a holiday.
  25. I've done 70mph in mine, once was enough.
