  1. I'm about to do an arb course, start on Monday... in the list of ppe are the en381-7 gloves, they maybe useful on the ground, but climbing a tree ? I might as well be wearing some socks, anyway I guess I will find out what’s the crack while climbing and gloves. cheers
  2. But are sat navs accurate, I,m not saying there not. But that’s one of the reasons behind the 10% +2 mph thing as everybody is using analog speedos..which can be out by a bit legally, years ago I got caught out driving a 4x4 with bigger wheels, I thought I was doing 34 when I was clocked at 37,
  3. That’s where my chairs went ?
  4. Very informative link, I did know about the two can/10lts rule at some filling stations. And Asda at Brighton marina has a 2 can rule, that is broken every sunny day, boat owners just want fuel, cheers.
  5. Dem rules are for fools,?. We an't fools.. I seen loads of peeps filling up what ever they could fill in the fuel delivery shenanigans, and nobody really blinked Anyhow if you run aspen, the nearest place maybe miles away btw I’m not a great beleaver of rules ??
  6. http://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?topic=83803.0 and here they say an 088 will fit the 084 https://sawhawgz.com/threads/stihl-084-ignition-issues.3263/ so so I hope this helps the op to find a coil that fits and works. I love fixing saws th parts are NLA. cheers
  7. But limited to what, i think your find a 088 is 12k and 880 12k or 12.5k I have read some are less but that just maybe in the USA where as 361 is 13.5k i use the word unlimited, but what limits saws rpm's is the fuel (rich or lean) as well as limiters in the coil. is what I’ve gleaned from tinternet.. anyhow your mileage may vary. Btw, it’s also an other option of a coil that fits if the op can’t find a s/h coil. And yes yes look at the 461 coil and the 460 coil that’s a classic variation over time
  8. Just one other thing to check, make sure it’s all nice and clean around the coil where the earth wire fits on to with the spade connector, I’ve seen/fixed a trimmer with this problem, earthing the coil out. Btw, use a known working plug, ie one from another saw, or check the plug in another saw, not that often, but I have seen duff new plugs. And if you do have to get a coil, I’ve read that a 361 fits and is unlimited, but you should check the tune of the carb etc.
  9. You really want a tach that you just hold close to the lead, eg tiny tach I have a lead type that you wrap around the ht lead but it’s a pita if your doing lots, oh btw,, and with the fastest refresh rate eg, 0.5 sec not the 5sec. edit, and the 20k, those buggers from vachina sent a silly 5k which reset at 7k. I had to do alsorts to get them to sent another, then the wrong one was sent again, dumb-China’s. so I brought else where.

  11. I guess you were the camera guy then, ?
  12. Not quite true, I was in the just mots place last month, I heard the guy say, if it’s there we gotta test it, even if no seat, cos you could put a seat back in, mine fail on off side rear door, could not be open from the outside, even thou you could from the inside. not that a fireman would always use the door handle. But also don’t carry passengers, yes it’s a Berlingo with windows and seat but the seats are always up and used as a van.

    200t clutch....

It’s also the inner side of the clutch drum that should be checked

    200t clutch....

Defo new springs, !! I think you got to it just in time but like htb says, prolly easy to just get a whole clutch.. and like spud says while your there, you may as well give it some tlc,

    200t clutch....

This may help you decide. http://www.madsens1.com/saw_clutch.htm cheers

    200t clutch....

It’s a bit hard to see in your pic with the light. But... Umm seems a bit strange, the colour of the spring covers are different. Sommachi must have been in before and twiddled with it. (Someone has fixed before) but all oem, so that’s good. those cultch springs are known to wear into the shoes after some long term use.(all saws) The normal user notices clutch engages differently. Ie sooner and disengages later, this can lead to clutch slipping at lower revs, and chain rotating on the bar a bit longer. the same symptoms as worn springs. edit: till it breaks through then it’s like a broken spring. And then that can lead to other problems @14k, wiping out the oil pump etc. Edit, re read this morn, and realised (school boy error) out board clutch. So the oil pump would be ok, ? so the real answer is,,,yes it’s worth getting a new one and they are very easy to fit, (I can see you’ve removed it) with a bit of old starter cord and the right spanner. Cheers I think stihls manuals states when the spring is level, ie the spring end sits flush in the shoe. Cheap insurance if you ask me ?
  17. The guy may have been in camo gear, or the driver prolly thought he was picking fruit. i think many options have been already stated, just rope it and cut small, and do it like on a Sunday (reduced service, between trains) or they got engineering works on, when the trains are on strike, cheers
  18. My tuppence worth, a long time ago, I remember seeing somthing on tv, some company had a mobile incinerator, I forget what temp it had to get the soil.. but every bit of soil went through it at a rate that would insure every bit of knott weed was ash when it came out. and yes it was costly, but it ment that nothing was removed from site edited to add google search, put this in google mobile incinerator to burn knotweed Many things come up, this being one https://addfield.com/addfield-fight-knotweed/ you will see it’s also used for rhododendrons By http://www.kingwell-holdings.co.uk/invasive-species/
  19. Keep us posted on the eventualities, May be even pics of standing tree and any other stuffs like rottin bits i do agree it could be just the owner can’t afford the bill, and the other party wants more light to there garden. Someone said to me once... Theres always 2 sides to a story, and sometimes there are 3 sides cheers
  20. I bet the tree owner is the last person to put his hand in his pocket to buy around. cut the tree down, and leave the brash and all. In his garden, and tell him your very nice neighbours have paid only for the tree to be cut down. And smile
  21. Just a thought, have you checked the plug? Sometimes if the gap gets worn (bigger due to useage ) and leads to more resistance, and hence a weaker spark when hot. This and hot fuel vapours can lead to difficulty in hot starting. Just readjustment of the gap can fix it. (0.5mm +or- 0.1mm) i guessing you haven’t serviced your saw, and if you look, I think plugs get swapped in a service yearly. Although plugs can and do work well for years, it would be easy to swap the plug for about £3 (look around) but the local Stihl shop here charges £7. I spoke to to someone once, when they had a hard time starting a trimmer, they had swapped the plug but never checked the new plugs gap, it was over 1mm. They thought the plug was already set, till I told them what if it gets mishandled or another machine requires a different size gap. but after saying all this, it may not be the plug ?
  22. I would have thought if it’s fuel is injeced in to the crank, this wouldn’t need to much pressure if the piston was in the right position and the 2stroke mix would lube all the parts needing lubing
  23. Umm I guessing I’m a bit late to your porting thread,, but it’s an everlasting/ongoing thread, and I’m learning, learning lots.. but what you say here is just can’t understand what your sayin, to what I’ve read. Else where, ,I think it’s pprolly time for a picture as it’s is a 1000 words and it’s. Better than me trying to ask the teacher the question cheers
