    Tree Topping

Reg, I have seen a lot of your vids, and I have learnt a lot from them. Keep-um coming ? they are all good ? I think your a good teacher, even if your not really teaching. And as always not everyone gets a dry sense of humour. And I love the real time swearing, we’re all human from different backgrounds. ? Anyhow I do sniff around for new stuff to watch on YouTube, and a vid/channel I’ve just started watching is this guy, https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCQNyFk9bPVVrNk08mgYlByw Early days but so far so good, for my enjoyment anyways. Btw I would expect bucking to say you dropped by one of his new vids soon. And always looking for your new vids ? Cheers.
  2. Your other post said and quoted it in my last post , now you say a ts500i I get a big sniff of male bovine excrement ????
  3. do you really think we’ve all had our heads in the pile of sawdust, of course we’ve seen and watch guys around on YouTube with 500i and comparing them to other saws. and if you’ve seen them and worked on them what are your thoughts, oh,,,you got any pics to show us .?
  4. Try contact @Rough Hewn his not a climber but has cs32, I’m sure you could offer some work his way, he’s willing to travel.
  5. I did like the sound track to the vid,
  6. Ooooerrr I like sensitive posts, ????
  7. Pics are worth 100's of Q's. The siz wheel ant gonna work on crispy hc. i would say the same, winch with 2 points of anchor
  8. One of my reasons for a bad back was flat feet, once I got some insoles to raise my arches a lot of my problems slowly disappeared. And I get them from the hospital which saves me a lot, have you seen the price some charge for them.
  9. That’s what I thought when I read the nptc test sheet. But I thought I was told different by @Rough Hewn When he recently did his. anyhoo, as it was said by mr Phillips “theres a dozen odd companies that would be able offer the training if you ask”, for a price ? and then .... i have other stuff to do now, laters ?
  10. Isn’t cs44 just felling a tree stem (that some guy has climbed and cut the branches off) albeit larger than the average 380mm tree. I would go for the cs32, ok it’s a bit more to it but then you would be qualified for stems up to..... and this is where it bugs me. The cs32 is cutting a tree down with a bar half the size of the tree, but in the end it’s up to 750mm. I'll say no more on The gravy train...thing..?
  11. Thanks for the pic, it paints a whole different picture now. I agree with @Haironyourchest, or go rent some beavers for a night out, I’m sure they will make a fine “dam”job of it ?
  12. I'm not sure about that. the last time a guy used a 261 i was using on my cs31 course, he wacked on the chain break a bit to soon (chain was still spinning fast) it undid the clutch. But I will say I never put the clutch on, so I don’t know who or how good it was put on. lucky it was at the end of the day, I found out in the morning, when I could not rotate the chain (trying to sharpen it) without turning over the engine. I put it on good after. Anyhow just be sure that washer is not fouling (touching) the clutch shoes.
  13. I had a look around there were a couple of youtube vids with the old clutch on them. But I could not see a newer clutch fitted. But it like I said, the 200t has an outboard clutch and does not have a cover like the older saws.and it don’t have any probs with saw dust. The020 ipl don’t show it with the newer clutch. So I would say it will be fine as the new clutch has a nut on it and as long as it’s done up to the right torque spec-ish. cheers
  14. other saws ie 200t don’t have it, and it has an outboard clutch i will I’ll see if I can find a pic on the net of a 020av without the washer. Dot hold your breath thou,??
  15. Don’t quote me on this, but......and a big but. The ipl (illustrated parts list) does not show that big washer whither the new clutch that you have now) in which you have now seemed to have it turned round so it fits on, ( the ipl seems to show it the other way round with the old clutch I don’t think you need the big washer and nut. The ipl does not show it on the other page.. the new clutch has the nut on it. So i still think it needs to be confirmed by someone with more knowledge than myself. cheers
  16. I looked at the ipl, link below, there seems to be 2 different clutches. Page 5 and 7. I wonder if you got the wrong one. And I’m not sure if one would just fit or you need some other parts as well as the new clutch. http://bricomeca.free.fr/Stihl/stihl 020 IPL.pdf but I’m sure @spudulike will know or maybe @Megatron
  17. My course was 8wks, I’ve shown some redirects, and that long limb walk, then using the other end of rope to come back and be able to position oneself anywhere, but sadly no cambiums used thou. I guess a 6wk course a lot is spoken about but less is practiced.?
  18. Pics before and after please, just for reference...?
  19. I'd like get my head up that one as well, me thinks room for two! ?
  20. We were not shown the use of cambium / friction savers, I wish they did it was a lot harder work. But I guess when I do use them I will appreciate them more. Also was told anything thicker than your wrist was fine as it was oak. So I was only doing what I was told and trying different things. those trees had been climbed many times before me and had no moss on them, but all the other trees around them did.
  21. That’s a fat tree, well was fat, and awesome ?
  22. You like this ? Same difference but double. Should have been a wider top to get betterer triangulation. But I was learning at the time ??
  23. That pic was really me getting out to an end of a limb and taking a slow ride back..? but it could be anywhere, and that’s my point. If placed higher then you can traverse between the two to get the bottom of the triangulation point, where you want to be. Use your lanyard to hold you into your place and cut the point you want without being pushed out buy the saw. abit of what joe newton was saying ?
  24. Abit like this although it’s not the whole picture, one rope high, the other end out to to the side or high and to the side and yah strop/lanyard holding you in place. anyhow a fine good job for your 1st. Your gonna be remembering this one ?
  25. I just get me leg over and do pull ups.?
