  1. 100 % a possibilty we had the exact same problem. water started coming up in the field so we could pinpoint it, right under some massive poplars. Dug down and the pipe squished underneath roots, it must have applied enough pressure on it to force a stone through the pipe
  2. Look tirfors are great for some heavy lifting when you need it, but for extraction? I'm 24 and end up in a heap after using one for than hour (spent a whole afternoon on mine pulling ash heads out of a moat). way i see it is 3 easy enough options. 1. get them to river/stream and float them to a landing 2. we all love working in the woods but the engine was invented for a reason, set up a red direct pulley and run along the bank. 3. you'll probably like this one. set a pulley head height in a tree on the bank, run a line from the log through the pulley on to level ground, get yourself or make up yourself a 3:1/ 5:1 pulley system, anchor this to a tree then attached to the drag line with a friction hitch(VT, Prussic etc) then pull the system all the way, then once you run out of rope advance the system on the friction hitch and so on. (respect for cutting up dead oak with a handsaw, i was cutting up some petrified oak the other day with chainsaw breaking a sweat) best of luck!
  3. . Where that white bump nodule is I had a thorn in there about 7 months ago, still hasn’t gone down. Also had a 200t go though it before which probably didn’t help [emoji23]
  4. Quickest way and easiest way is through planning portal which sends the application straight to the intended LA
  5. Sounds like you’re doing well but know you won’t be able to use SRT for the climbing courses, especially climbing and Ariel rescue
  6. Give us a shout, nearer Braintree though
  7. Out of interest if you don’t my me asking, how much does the splitta 400 set one back?
  8. surely no one does that???? [emoji23]

  11. I use ibc’s, can’t imagine vented would dry them as fast as a cage, wind whistles through them. Thinking of getting a potato box turner style thing made up to flip them
  12. Nice !! What’s the 3.0 Toyota like at pulling the 12 ft tipper filled up with chip??
  13. sorry quoted wrong person, i meant its not the dog tooth cut
  14. its not buddy its a gob and back cut then stow saw away and pull branch towards you or an outboard step cut and snap branch away. basically not a free fall cut. you aren't expected to be knocking tops out in your assessment (sorry didnt mean to quote you treerover, you're spot on)
  15. I left a chipper on the side of the road, come round the front to see 3 Christmas trees piled up by the chipper... in may...

  17. at that height they can keep it and i'll keep my back thank you
  18. ok so surely the contribution from burning wood is to have come from biomass stations? and where did you get that figure from in the first place? also no ones sitting with their face over the chimney, there would never be a enough of a concentration of wood smoke in say teh countryside where most people have them, to have any significant affect on health
  19. Sorry for the language but what a load of fucking bull shit. No I'm sorry stoves are efficient if used properly. Wood smoke isn't going to kill anyone, it's been happening for centuries and now they want to stop us having a fire? This country is actually a joke. They are insignificant compared to other sources of pollution. What about all the people who have built a lively hood selling firewood? Forestry? All the habitat made from turning land into woodland for firewood. Fucking joke. Sorry again for the language but this irratates me
  20. No no one does deposits in tree work as there's no materials, maybe interim payments on along job. Also ffs nesting season does not mean we all go on holiday for 6 momths
  21. I mean if it's a quiet country lane... and you've got the write signage.... and no ones going to know if you should or shouldn't.... that is all I'm prepared to say [emoji23]
  22. No dearer than buying a saw... why didn't you just pay for the guy to cut it up when he felled it? Someone with no experience cutting off small chunks is going to end up with an injury, don't know how you'd manage it but sounds like kick back city. However if you are insistent buy a second hand saw off eBay
