  1. I disagree, we win the majority contradicting the customers spec, they trust us. I personally don’t find it difficult. The only exception is commercial works, then yea it’s reduction time with a 460. We do a few McDonald’s in London and they want all the tress turned into squares, definitely a day to leave the sign written clothing in the van aha
  2. Anyone in the essex (Braintre/dunmow) area with a firewood processor willing to process some cord for us? With or without operator. TiA
  3. Ok but If the customer still wants it doing then why not? It pays? We are businesses to that sense and it isn’t causing a detrimental effect to the tree? 1.8/2m on certain species like an oak do make a difference. And it goes back to my point that if they leave it to continually grow one will still only be able to remove the spec. Ok admittedly on certain species like limes tree officers expect that we can effing levitate
  4. How ever on the point of “pointless reductions” and “wasting customers money” and if this is in reference to sympathetic pruning and light crown reductions I disagree. One must educate a customer that a crown reduction shouldn’t be always viewed as a complete “solution” (to that of light, leaves in gutter, bird shit and whatever other bolloucks they come up with) BUT A “prevention/management of these problems escalating. I always say that the “2m crown reduction” will prevent the crown growing larger as if one was to leave it say 10 years and it was to put on say another 6 metres one would still only be able to reduce the crown by 2 metres in order to keep the cuts small.( species specific) (I’m much better explaining this face to face and slightly more awake but I hope that you catch my drift)
  5. Ok apologies that I completely and utterly agree with. If I can’t convince the customer on the 2m crown reduction and they want a “50% crown reduction like the others tree surgeons suggested” or a heavy reduction on a poplar then yea I’m all for fell it and replace with a more suitable specimen opposed to bothering it and felling it in 5 years time for them.
  6. I don't mean to start an argument but i think that you are so wrong. I'm no tree hugger but to fell every tree instead of pushing for a reduction? That is whats wrong with the arb world in my opinion. The majority of customers want everything felled, if one can't convince them to retain them how much will we lose? Also why would you be putting yourself out of repeat work? It won't be every "2 years" to re-prune if it is done properly. Being able to prune and more importantly educating your customers is what makes a good arb (I hate doing reductions btw)
  7. It’s a dub machine, put together on a Friday, I’d be demanding a replacement or a refund. In the end of the day they are just a cheap copy of a Jensen. You pay top money for a brand new machine with the expectation of then benefit of it being reliable, dependable. I think that you are well within your right to demand such
  8. we've got freedcomm tmax on our petzl helmets, works an absolute treat, been out in all sorts of weather and still going strong. only £40 per unit
  9. 500i doesn’t have torque, it’s a fast cutting saw not for low end torque. Also it’s just a bit to precious to stick on a mill. Just an 880 you really won’t regret it, failing that settle for a 661/660 but get an 880
  10. Rope guide all day long, notice a massive drop in friction, and if you cant quite find the right anchor point im comfortable with choking it around a smooth stem all day, no slippage. Rarely gets stuck, i know its a stupid amount of money for something so simple but i'd buy it again and again
  11. Apologies i have only just seen these replies to my own topic, would certainly be interested

  13. Just go for it is my advice, see if you can find an 880 from a dealer still. You’ll only need it later on and they will be like hens teeth. I got the panther mill with a winch, cannot fault it
  14. I have a 2012 a540 and it’s faultless, touch wood never had anything major go on it, chips like beast, absolutely launches chip
  15. never had a bad service from them
  16. Bravo, i just had no idea of the dimensions the chip boxes people had on them hence the question.
  17. Smart set up that, is it roughly the same footprint compared to a 7.5?
  18. I never got on with a sequoia, leg straps always came undone, never found it comfortable. Had a butterfly which I liked, use a stein vega now and I don’t have a single complaint about it. Nice and lightweight, never gets caught up, comfy, back never hurts. But it’s all down to personal preference, size weight etc got to have a hang in them first
  19. So the volume it can hold is significantly more?
  20. Same as most i imagine the transit is an absolute bottle neck and as much as i love pretending the tip site is an hour round trip and enjoying the break its really holding me back. Does a 7.5t hold many more cube? I'm not talking about weight just hypothetically if one were to fill it to the brim. Secondly is anyone running a small hiab on theirs?
  21. Not much good on 20ft of russian vine entangled in a 60ft fallen leylandii over a swimming pool then. Ive haven't half been effing and blinding over
  22. looks smart Andy, up to what size can it do? just need a little shooting/fishermans stool mounted on the back
  23. Yeap you broke the number one rule there bud. Never go behind your prime contractors back to deal with a client directly. It shows a complete and utter lack of respect, breaks down all trust. So what if he makes £150 out of you for doing “nothing” it’s how it works, he was the one who won the customer originally, you one day will do the same. Secondly the fact the blokes offered for you to borrow his tools considering you went behind his back is astounding. I’ve had plenty of clients approach me while subcontracting and the answer has always been no. Out of respect, reputation and why cut open the golden goose. Sorry but if a rant but I’ve had someone try and do this to me before and I was frothing
  24. Iveco daily?
