  1. Looks like you get a good view of the action with the cab where it is and lower arm behind you?
  2. Eco plug stump, birch won’t take long to rot away. If you want a quick result and can’t wait for result bring in a stump grinder.
  3. You need to get the worldly wise tree surgeon with the Midas touch back and ask for a price to get the tree on the ground, all non valuable wood, small branches and rotten wood cleared from site. And ask him what the remaining wood is worth and whether he’s prepared to buy it? You will then be in a position to see if there’s money to be made. Either way that tree needs to come down?
  4. Spider will probably give you the best max slope angle due to the cranked legs. Your best not to set it up on a sloping hard surface because the platform could slip and throw sensors out. Best to dig out and level all leg pads which would be obviously a non starter on a drive? Unless you can set legs either side of a drive onto the garden?
  5. As I started reading this is what I thought. Just the heat would do it, but if you say unlikely where it is🤔. The phot is one I did few weeks ago, no burn marks, bark on lower trunk and large limbs has popped. Fire was 4 years ago. Healthy tree before fire which was 30 mts away but intense.
  6. I know they’re overworked and there could be a long wait Joe but if that happens again you should consider a trip to A&E, neck swollen and itchy throat is heading into the danger zone😳
  7. Exactly this in my nearest town. Barbers(one hair style only!) next to a continental grocery shop(which very few people seem to shop in) with the local car wash guy visiting all premises. Continental grocers often visited by Customs and Excise but still operating. One big cash society(on paper). And not to mention the door in the back for the frustrated arborist with cash in his pocket😳 apparently?
  8. Must admit I’m a little surprised by some of the comments on here. There is a requirement to be able to facilitate an aerial rescue of a stricken climber, yes it’s quicker if the climber can lower himself, but if he’s unable to due to unconsciousness, major trauma to a hand or arm where he’s unable to operate his lowering device, epileptic fit, heart attack, stroke, etc, then there is a reason for someone on the ground to assist him. Did my aerial “tick in the box course” 25 years ago and though then what pain in the arse it was, slow, potentially too late to alter the outcome? What’s wrong with practising/ refreshing something if it could potentially save someone’s life? We do it with CPR/ Trauma first aid(don’t we🤔). How long do we have to spend to refresh once a month, every 6 months? Couple of hours? How often do we all have a job and finish early day? Thought it was human nature to help someone who needs it? Or are you going to be like most of the people on the ground in the HSE reports and pretend you didn’t see it🤔
  9. Nothing 22LR or No 6 shot won’t sort? And should be re-applied at regular intervals throughout the year. AUS poles have transformed drey poking.
  10. Don’t think it’s just one climber your looking for with your current tickets🤔
  11. It didn’t look too bad in photo. Time to get a new track then. As I said it’s bound to let you down at the most inconvenient time. Despite telling the blokes not to turn on a stump-especially small stumps? What did half wit do? Spun it on a small sprag, rips the track and still half the day to go😫. If the thing rips it’s difficult to load, ended up supporting one side with a loader and tracking the other side. Lifted it off back at Mission Control with a loader. I now always keep a spare track in reserve - they’re not that much🤔
  12. Yes, there’s plenty of life left in that track yet(if that’s the only split?) just ease up on the handbrake turns! The problem will be when the moisture gets in and starts to rust wires and it’ll let go at the most inconvenient time. I’d run it as is but get a new one in stock ready to replace it.
  13. Not too bothered about the Eucalyptus because as far as I’m concerned they have no place in the UK but that’s another story🙄. What’s really puzzling me is how do you know it’s a women that’s posted. It’s all very polite and correct but some blokes have been known to be that? I’ve read the post several times and still can’t determine the sex of the OP. I’m curious because I’m trying to stay one step ahead of her in doors and these little snippets of information all help🤔. Just to wind up - I’m with Dan on snow or prolonged frost as done for it?
  14. Jesus Andy, your the probably the best paid guy on here🤔. Invest in an old Major or similar and stop messing about with what is probably a too low a flow and pressure solution for any decent splitter or processor😂
  15. Cutters have been ripped off by land owners and timber merchants as well. Many years ago there were times when we occasionally worked for a dealer who often claimed tags were knocked of large sticks and claimed they measured out less than we claimed! Tosser used to turn up in a new reg Jag every year? He had previously lost an arm in a motorbike accident and it’s no surprise we used to call him the One Armed Bandit🤔
  16. Well, it’s not that great, it’s dived in the shallow end? The waters obviously not deep enough🤔
  17. No way, 😫you can’t throw you bags in the back of my bin lorry yourself, more than my jobs worth🙄
  18. If it’s anything like my local council you could only use alternate weeks, do chip one week and logs the next🤔
  19. Have a look at Brightwells auctions, they auction some ex military stuff including Quads and trailers. You might be lucky with the quads if they’ve only been used by the RAF around air bases such as Bagram, Afghanistan and could of been well maintained? If they’ve been used by a infantry unit on patrols they could of been ragged and not repaired because not economical. Luck of the draw🤔
  20. It was a recycling bin after all🤔
  21. Strange this🤔. The US always used to be cheaper for Forestry kit than the UK. I’ve shipped Chainsaws back in the past. I know others who have done the same recently. I presume climbing kit is cheaper as well - it’s a huge market there. Honey Bros aren’t the cheapest in the UK for all things Arb, some items yes, but other outlets are cheaper on other things and it changes from month to month, it pays to shop around. And your telling me/ us it’s the go to shop🤔. Something smells fishy Tunacat?
  22. The tossers who buy the stolen kit “no questions asked” are just as guilty as the scum who steal it?
