  1. “This one is very tall but is still edible, I BELIEVE” 😳 - that’s reassuring ?
  2. Most farms are proper “working farms”, yes, there are a few hobby farms or small holdings. I doubt if Dyson gets up at 5 every morning and milks cows day in, day out or ploughs into the night to get the job done or get the spuds out of the ground. He’s also probably not too bothered if he has 100 acres of spuds rot in the ground because the weathers been too wet to get them out? Farming is a game of poker - not knowing what the crop yield is likely to be because of the weather or disease, be hit with TB, avian flue and a whole host of other problems or worry how the hell the monthly bills are going to get paid? Also a lot of the advanced agg stuff he’s doing is bringing in lots of additional grants and if the experimental farming he’s doing is successful could make him many more millions? Would be interesting to see who actually owns Dysons farms? I bet it’s a company, offshore conglomerate or group of shadow company’s and not be eligible for the inheritance or “Death Tax” but take all the advantages of being agriculture?
  3. I’ve voted Yes.
  4. The scantly clad female is likely to be Elon with a blond wig on, be careful what you wish for 😳
  5. I think along with comments on other threads “how shit are your police?” Could be a thread on its own🤔. Still, a load of bad apples doesn’t spoil the whole barrel 🤔
  6. Not interested in following up and arresting anybody. So the thick pc plod picks up the Stihl disc cutter with a piece of brown paper on the handles where anyone would pick it and possibly destroy any finger prints🤔🤔. No wonder these scum go out time and time again thieving cos the chance of getting done is next to ZERO. What’s the bloody point🙄. Had an incident where I had on video two scrotes walking around my property. Got them picking up a 20 litre drum and checking to see if there was fuel in it. When the police turned up one of them picked up the drum by the handle on top to take it away for forensics😳 “useless” is too kind a comment?
  7. in reply to the thread title - Never liked them in the 1st place, like them even less now - if that’s possible🤔
  8. I would try and get smaller diameter wood to start with? Generally only large outfits can handle 450/ 500 mm diameter wood - unless you’re getting it cheap of course! Pay a bit extra to get the wood you want, it’ll be quicker, easier to handle, easier on the processor and the body. To handle bigger stuff you’ll require a loader or crane with grab, cone splitter on a digger( knife splitters to handle that size are big money?) you’ll require a processor to handle the max diameter of the wood your buying in unless your prepared to ring up with a chainsaw and put through a splitter. Avoid Chinese stuff, it won’t last. The makes Conor listed will suffice. Be very careful buying 2nd hand unless theres known history or there’s a warranty, It could be worn out and unreliable. Fuelwood have PTO processors that might come in your budget and they do have open days. JAS Wilson are also a good company to deal with. There are others but I have dealt with the ones mentioned.
  9. What’s “nearly eaten” by a brown bear Peds? Did he take a bite and spit you out, did he look at you, shake his head and walk off looking for a tastier meaty morsel? Did you out run it? Agree about having big cats running loose in the UK, it would put a stop to dog walkers after the first little rover had been ripped apart. And no more dogging in some remote woodland carpark😳
  10. I didn’t think we had many asylum seekers from Rwanda. There were some in 94 after the genocide, but generally the population are happy with the place. It’s the 6th safest place in the world and safest in Africa. Quite how people can say it’s not safe to send our illegal immigrants there is wrong.
  11. Have you been watching the Gavin and Stacey box set again😳
  12. Don’t you run a land rover Woody? Could you not put a tracked chipper on the land rover? 130?
  13. This is a Deodar I was called on to help clean up after the storms last week. Typically no depth to the roots, mass of healthy sinkers, but more importantly no large laterals on the opposite side to the fall. Also historic brick foundations/ rubble in the base of the resultant hole which meant that the plate just basically sat there with a ready made fault line. The reason for lack of laterals on the one side was due to the fact that another codominant tree stood there until about 5 years ago when it was removed? Also because of the competing tree the branch growth was loaded on the fall side. Water logged ground, poor root anchorage on one side, historic brickwork under plate, heavily weighted to one side, very high winds from the worst direction in this trees case and over it goes. If it had fell 90 deg to the right it would have taken out someone sat in their lounge? The tree that’s injured this chap looks to be weighted one way, possibly old structure affecting root development on one side, high wind🤔. There’s 1000’s of these trees about?
  14. Had a look at Dewalt and Milwaukee impact wrenches at the APF that were supposedly on offer? A quick Google and they weren’t🤔. Have got mainly Mikita so made sense to get the same, however came across a dewalt one on offer with two batteries in a local dealers that just happened to be cheaper than the makita body only? At least I can now find it quickly on the shelf when required.
  15. I think tree surgeons not dropping off stove ready, seasoned firewood for nought are out of order😫. But at least they’re keeping you busy I suppose?
  16. Of course the youngest of the proper defenders is now 8 years old, unless your talking the hairdresser one badged as a defender? My 60 plate one is definitely showing character and it’s me getting to look more shabby🤔. We could always get personnel plates to hide the vehicles true age but all that’s kicked off on another thread. The transit as a workhorse is a difficult one to get right if you don’t want to get confused with the travellers, but avoid the external sun visor, sign written to cover everything that can be carried out on someone’s property from drives to roofing with everything in between? When approaching the house remember to breath in and not ware brand new PPE and rigger boots😳
  17. A specific allergy test should determine if she’s allergic to the Scots pine or not. Don’t see there’s a requirement to go all the way to Australia to get away from the tree? 100 metres should do it? I had a broad spectrum allergy test 20 odd years ago after some nasal issues and it came back I was allergic to house dust( I told them to tell my wife cos I wasn’t going to 😳). I think everyone is probably allergic to something.
  18. I wouldn’t be able to give a running commentary like him as I’d still be trying to get my breath back after hauling my fat arse up there🤔. That Milwaukee top handle looks a reasonable saw? They’re £540 here with 2 x 8amp batteries. It might tempt me to get one? Anyone used one?
  19. Your not Bob Dylan or John Lennon are you by any chance?
  20. This, plain and simple
  21. For converting farm buildings to residential(known as Class Q) there is a requirement to carry out a noise and vibration survey. Not sure if it’s required for new builds?1
  22. Not just a woodworker? The chaps a creative artist by the look of it👍
  23. 10,000 little Korean guys in one spot with say 6000 up front, spaced a metre or two apart on say a 6 or 8 km front with 4,000 in reserve, backed up by a few hundred Russians pointing them in the right direction? And making sure they carry on in that direction🤔. Even before adding artillery, rockets and mortars would make quite a dent in the Ukrainian defence!
  24. Does anyone know any descendants of Guy Fawkes? I’ve got an idea 🤔
  25. 2nd hand tractor prices are creeping up and will probably continue to do so because the cost of new is prohibitive for a lot of farmers?
