  1. Any puncture wounds? Get a second opinion? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. As above, but moisture and oak ain't friends. Just be prepared to rip it out if it goes skew. Maybe resin coating the slabs/planks all over first? Very interested in your results. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. I take an electric battery saw for smallish jobs above the hand saw limits. Bar off and in the rucksack. Not sure of weight, about 3-4kg with battery. No exhaust in yer face. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. A while back I took the huge dogs of an 056S to do a bit of milling. Then went to crosscut a pile of logs. The chain pulled the saw exhaust into the logs repeatedly. Bit denty. Big dogs all the time now. I've got a 17" 404 bar for the 880. Haven't tried it yet. [emoji12] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. 461 on eBay London. An unwanted gift? Hmmm Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. Spoke with stihl uk this morning, as I've just ordered a 461. The technical department said probably not released this year. [emoji22] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    261?

I have an 18" but wouldn't want to bury it. 16" is about a comfortable limit. 440/461 with 20-25" comes out to play for mid range stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. Watch out for the "manuche". They were really bad round our way. Even my manuche mates tell me to be careful. Going away for a week? Bury it. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. I bought 3 acres in 2007, got stung €1200 for geometre. However ask yer local mairie about "haie et bocage" planting. I got 1200 mixed hardwood saplings and 18 round ballers of hay from them to plant around land. They also had a small woodland tree thing. Mairies nearly always helpful. 10. Depends on the job, but normally, Flat day rate £325 2 guys, many mills and big saws, insured for milling. 8hr day. Run motomix and stihl bio. Generally travel 1-2 hours each way to work. Time in workshop grinding 48" ripping chains, filing bars, cleaning etc. Not much profit, but if you bring a slice home each time, you get a good stash. £400 is more reasonable, but I'm sure would put people off. Hope this helps. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. It's true about the walnuts, They say buy a field, plant walnuts, when you retire make walnut oil. (Local Breton saying) The going rate for agg/field is 20-30 centimes a m2. About €700-1000 for an acre. Watch out for geometre costs as the vendor pays the fees not you. Sounds expensive for what it is. You can buy a house with an acre for €10k. Where in Brittany is it? Rennes-Nantes corridor is shooting up in price still. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. Yep, that'll be the European court of human rights. European supreme courts etc. Making stuff up? [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. I worked in Brussels in 91 for the European Commission in the run up to EU. The EU started as a union on 1st January 1993. Even back then it was a gravy train for the euro middle classes. I worked for DG5, working conditions and labour law. Social charter stuff. Minimum working wage, max working hours, etc. Now we have "brexit", We will have no human rights, no working rights and will soon be back on £3 an hour. " so we can have our country back". Most people sadly haven't got a clue as to the workings of the British government/Whitehall and their complicity with big business, let alone the complexity of a multinational union and the myriad of variables involved. And I'm really trying not to mention American involvement with european politics in the 20th century. You actually believe Brussels is in charge! Go read history. It's really, really scary. Just my tuppence. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. Hello Ty, I'm glad to hear things are improving. What's the coup with licenses/insurance in France? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. Seem quite a few big moths recently. The second photo if you can make it out is two mating. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. Should have some sort of fruit forming by now? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  19. Yep. He sells loads of saws, got the lowest feedback rating on eBay I've ever seen. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. Ok that may have come across as slightly harsh, but it's better than losing body parts. [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. Leave the "English disco lovers" alone. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. There's a lad in a unit by me has 3 of them from China. All read different from the same saw. [emoji15] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. Stop! Get some training! If you don't know about bar length cutting, you know f**k all about chainsaws and have clearly no experience. Do not expect professional als to condone dangerous behaviour with a chainsaw. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. A few years back I was offered 9 euros an hour for climbing, 50km+ away. Talk to your mairie, they are often the people to see for segments of woodland etc. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. 30c+ 60km south of Rennes. Found a teknival on Saturday night, woohoo! Getting a bit old though now. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
