  1. I've just emailed my insurance group about working with ported saws. I'll post their reply. [emoji106]
  2. As much power vs as little weight. That's the crux. If I could use a 261 with a 25/30" bar, I would. Rather than lug a 461/661. Anyway, petrol saws will be obsolete by 2040. Electric saws will have taken over before then too. Used by robots.... Ported saws will go the same way as the steam engine. So get your saws sent to spud ASAP! 3. "A wall mount... for display purposes only". [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji106]
  4. Watching a young climber rigging down an huge ash tree. He sent a heavy union down, it bounced out away on the branches, before swinging back into the clients tinfoil shed. It left a perfect union shaped indentation about 4 inches deep. The whole site just stopped with mirth for several minutes. Looked like something straight out of a cartoon. Fortunately the boss was a secret Jedi who beat the panel nearly flat again with a log. Client was very impressed. [emoji848][emoji6][emoji51][emoji106]
  5. Today's beech tree had it all. Spalted, infused, rippled, unions and inclusions. Maxed out the 60" panther mill several times. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  6. And I genuinely don't know about insurance, but every time I insure a vehicle, my insurers ask several times if I've modified the engine in any way. Every time.
  7. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Ok mate, put up a video of your 660 "ported" saw, I'm sure that double jungle muffler is a touch louder than stock. [emoji12][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  8. I've tried wood fires, charcoal fires and even dumped bags of coal on the stuff. Bit like the terminator, kept coming back. Couldn't even cut through the root mass, had to under cut 6'x6' x12" then ripped the whole slab up. Cut it up with bow saws, as we'd already knackered a new bar and chain. Watch out for toads etc we found loads hidden at the bases. Nightmare stuff.
  9. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji106]
  10. It's old, it's dying. It'll fall over at some point in the next century. I think twig is right about the oil tank though. [emoji106]
  11. I gave my daughter a milling job at the yard. She was terrible. Couldn't even lift an 880 with 56" bar and mill. My advice: Never employ a 9 year old girl. [emoji23][emoji12][emoji106]
  12. I've used a few different "spud" ported saws. Different level. I use only stock saws at work because of insurance. [emoji106]
  13. Get some sweet chestnut, hazel and ash mixed in. I've seen French farmers coppice hedges and extract milling logs too. [emoji106]
  14. Anyone know of a pump which will fit the 55L motomix barrels?
  15. Buy barrels mate, it's cheaper and no mountain of empties. [emoji106]
  16. That's exactly how I read that post! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji106]
  17. A living hedge will take many years to establish and will need protection on both sides from livestock. It will need laying every few years as well. But it's so worth the wait, Absolutely fantastic for nature. I've only planted a few kilometres, there are several pro hedge types on here, look for the threads. [emoji106]
  18. Veganism is the future. But not until mankind has pushed the animal apocalypse into the history books. It'll take generations. And I'm a hunting omnivore. I also think when we rip the piss out of groups of people for no good reason, That keeps people away. Inclusivity is important. [emoji106]
  19. That's almost the same as most nuts. Take a look at your peanut butter jar. [emoji106]

  22. Ask the dvla, hmrc and vosa. I did. When I get a new engine for the transit, I'll be trying to get it hort registered. Will update what happens. [emoji106]
  23. I bought my wifes felcos from a car boot sale. Some guy had about 50 pairs in a box. Quid each. [emoji106]
