  1. If you've got the workload a big bandit (11-17") is in a different ball park to 6-8" chippers. You could fill nearly any legal chip box very quickly. Machine feeding is a must, or that will bottleneck. When you can just cut, drop, pickup n chip whole trees, your work rate is phenomenal. [emoji106]
  2. Cheap rigger gloves. Then bin them after. Sticky, spiky, sticky, sticky, spiky, sticky **** If you do keep any wood, get it under cover or it will mold in days.
  3. Get your cs32. Then you'll know how to do this properly. And your insurance won't be invalidated. [emoji106]
  4. Of get someone who knows how to do it safely with the correct tools. [emoji848]
  5. No offence taken bud, I'm under no illusions. That's why I'm looking at vehicles 5-6k now. Still very hesitant, not familiar with the jargon either. [emoji106]
  6. What I'd really like is just to borrow about 1.5-2k, I can add a grand to get a cheap 4x4 which will last 2-3 years. £2.5-£3k? A brand new is not an option yet. Couldn't afford £4-500 a month. Yet. Doobin, you're right about machinery, (I started 12 years ago though with a wheel barrow and an 021[emoji23]) I've got a transit tipper, it's just I get quite a few jobs where a 4x4 is essential.
  7. Spot on mate. Had a chat with a finance guy today. Sounds reasonable. [emoji106]
  8. Ok think I follow you now. You'll knacker your 391 running a 36" bar unless it's full skip. And even then it won't like it. 25" max is pushing it. [emoji106] Stubby the gauge on all pro back handled stihl saws is 0.63 That's a husky gauge you're referring to. [emoji106]
  9. Yep. No problem Lee. Give me a call 07376803384 Saul [emoji106]
  10. Get a model train transformer. 240-12v with potentiometer. [emoji106]
  11. What's written on top of your Saw???! 056AV or 056SAV? There's a big difference. 056 is about 80cc and will struggle with a 36" bar. The 056S will do it easily at 90cc
  12. Is it an 056 or 056S? [emoji106]
  13. That's what I'd like ideally. [emoji106]
  14. Er yeah I've found out about the false economy. Had no other option though. Started driving 1st of march last year with an escort van, worked my way up to a transit tipper and an old golf. What's straight finance and ballooning? [emoji106]
  15. That would be appreciated. 07376803384 Saul [emoji106]
  16. I've just worked out I've spent £6770 on 8 vehicles since 1st march last year. [emoji51]
  17. The 056 has the 3002 mount.(same as 391) Will run a 36" bar. Rotatech is made of plasticine.
  18. Swinny, khriss and Ian, You are correct. But a decent second hand is 8/10k I'm subbing up north The wages are crap.
  19. I'd love to, but I'm small scale and couldn't afford that. I really don't like being in debt unless I'm absolutely sure I can cover it. Need a wee chipper and a B+E soon too, so it's all budget stuff I'm looking at. [emoji106]
  20. For newbies and pro's alike, Anyone have any questions about any aspect of chainsaw milling, Please post them here. [emoji106]
  21. I only wanted to borrow a couple of grand. Got a grand deposit. Need a reliable 4x4 vehicle which will pull at least 2.8ton Finance company I spoke to last week advised me to get a credit card instead, as they only lend 5k minimum. [emoji106]
  22. Interesting, hadn't thought of that[emoji106] Just bought a new engine for the transit tipper, should be fitted end of the week. What a relief that will be.[emoji849] Thanks for all your suggestions [emoji106]
