  1. That's a tidy set up mate, How's the logosol working? Those oak boards look the business [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  2. Amazing work Steve, Got a few special blanks I'm saving for you. [emoji106]
  3. It's worth getting a bigger bar and mill, The 660 is actually faster milling under 2' timber. I run a 56" GB bar on a 60" panther mill, cuts up to 120cm wide. Personally I'd also recommend using aspen/motomix alkylate petrol. For many, many reasons. And yeah Robs a top bloke. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  4. You'll need a new bar and chain. It's a different bar mount 660-880. Personally I use .404 full chisel ripping or granberg ripping chain. The 48" duromatic bar is inferior to other large bars with nose sprockets. I'm using GB bars on my big mills now and very impressed so far. RobD has it all at Chainsawbars.co.uk [emoji106]
  5. Tidying up the yard today, I free hand cut a few little cutting boards. Never seen pippy beech before. The olive ash and elm were beautiful too. Randomly two chippies turned up with a planer thicknesses. [emoji13][emoji12][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

  7. Yep. Learned thoroughly. [emoji106]
  8. We had a couple of large ones split at the crown when dropped. Does appear brittle compared with robur. [emoji106]
  9. The cleanest cutting chains for me, is a .404 full chisel full comp at 0 degree top plate and .65-.75mm depth gauges, Or the granberg ripping chain comes a very close second. Hyper skip chains are designed to reduce the load on the Saw with huge bars. [emoji106]
  10. I've got two hooks, one is a stihl yard hook. It's wooden handle is about 3" thick and it does bend under load. Also use the hook on the 4' stihl felling lever. It's rectangular box section and under load it bends sideways. Very dangerous. [emoji106]
  11. I explicitly explain to new customers. We get paid at the end of the job, before we leave site. Regulars get flexibility. [emoji106]
  12. Get a cheap chillaskan from rob.d on here. Mill the trunks in situ. [emoji106]
  13. Mill it on the floor. Get a wooden handled cant hook, and an 8' steel bar. Or buy a tractor/loader/forklift. There are no easy ways of moving logs without serious hydraulics. [emoji106]
  14. Milled a large spalted Beech yesterday and today, absolutely pished down. The panther mill is performing fantastically, so solid. Granberg ripping chain is my new favourite chain. Just wish they did a full chisel version. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  15. Wp36 with two operators, £350 a day. West Yorkshire [emoji106]
  16. It's just clicked. [emoji849](I'm slow) Cutting table legs, skittles, turning blanks, posts etc With a 35cc Saw [emoji848] That's pretty clever. Think I know a few wood workers who could do with one of those. What's the cost of the work bench without the Saw? [emoji106]
  17. What! A jig!?? [emoji23][emoji106] Cheers Rob [emoji106]
  18. Yeah it's useless outside, can't dry it outdoors either, had an issue with green mold but that's dried now. [emoji106]
  19. There's a market for it right now. Resin and bow ties are very fashionable. Warped and cracked is in. [emoji106]
  20. No idea, but if you plant chestnuts... Or go to a coppice and dig your own. Ramora from larch is crossing over to SC. Bit scary. [emoji51][emoji51][emoji51]
  21. Turkey oak is good for milling, great medulla rays [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
