  1. Now there's a word Ive (thankfully) not heard in years. You're lucky you said that over the internet or Id have you tied over the Saw Horse!
  2. He asked the same question in another forum, but was not impressed with the answers given it seems? He thought he was sitting on a Gold Mine when in fact it was gnarly firewood cut into short lengths. Supposedly he was getting £40 a hoppus foot for it.
  3. Cant be bothered messing around with that. Im not gonna be spamming your address with Gay Porn Its up to you.
  4. Its surprising how many on this forum have bought into the hysteria.
  5. How much did you pay for it? By the time you've paid someone to fix it you're genuinely better off just cutting your losses and buying a new saw. As Peatff says, a wee Husky or a wee Stihl. Then flog the saw on for £50. If you pay someone to look a it thats gonna be another £50-£100, maybe more? Unless you tackle the job yourself it just does not seem worth it. ' Then its still an old used saw which you dont know if its been used and abused or not. You say it looks well looked after, but have you you removed the Exhaust and have a peek at the piston? Might be well scored, might need a new air filer and plug etc etc. Might have been ran on too little 2 stroke. If they guys not told you it has a leak then he's hardly going to be honest about anything else. Like a lot of things it pays to know what you're looking for before making a purchase. You'd not buy a second-hand car because it had shiny paint.
  6. No worries, the offer stands. Maybe when you feel more comfortable you can PM it over. I dont have much brains to pick mind. But ask away, there is plenty folk here who'll happily offer help too.
  7. Just that its good younger folk are showing an interest in woodcraft. Gotta be better than being glued to the Xbox all day! If you want PM me your address and I'll send you a new Stihl or Husky Hatchet (which ever you prefer) to get you started.
  8. Well, Im sure you'll have fun. May I ask how old you are?
  9. Personally I cant see it worth the time, the effort or the expense. And where does the knife come into play? Are you going to whittle the wood into sections? Id consider how many hours you're planning on spending on this toxic wood (lead paint maybe? ) to get it to the stage its ready to burn sitting in your log basket? Then add the price of the cheap tools you intend to use for this purpose. Would you get it done in a day? Thats including liberating the wood the the shed, getting it home, and doing whatever you're planning on doing with it. I can see that taking 8 hours maybe?. Pay yourself the UK Living wage and thats £65. You can buy a ton bag of real firewood for that and saved yourself a days hassle, and knackered a bunch of tools in the process. Oh, and saved poisoning yourself too. What might be a good idea is to sign up to the wood tip pages here. You can make yourself available to be a place to drop off arb waste. Then all you can spend your time processing fresh, clean logs.
  10. The Lock-down should become entirely voluntary. It is up to us, not the state to decide what risks we are going to take with our own bodies. You can voluntarily self-isolate. You dont have to go into the streets or the shops. Those that feel vulnerable can self-isolate and those that want to get on with it can. Somewhat paraphrased but I agree with him in the entirety of what he says. And have been saying the same myself for a while now.
  11. I guess its not practical to freeze them by the boxfull and sell in the UK? We get King Crab off-shore every now and again. Had to slum it with Fillet Steak Saturday night though.
  12. I just ripped the guts outta my Saw. It had a Catalytic Converter in it and obviously a spark arrestor. Both now gone. Noisier yes, but noticeably more powerful and quicker off the throttle. Or if more power is not your thing buy one off of ebay? NEW MUFFLER FOR DOLMAR CHAINSAW 122 ---- BOX 815 U WWW.EBAY.COM UP FOR SALE IS A NEW MUFFLER FOR DOLMAR CHAINSAW 122 IN GOOD CONDITION. Or maybe investigate what other Dolmar or Makita models share the same muffler? Maybe this will fit? SACH DOLMAR 111 CHAINSAW EXHAUST MUFFLER ONLY WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for SACH DOLMAR 111 CHAINSAW EXHAUST MUFFLER ONLY...
  13. Norwood Sawmills do a good app that works in both imperial and metric.
  14. Better off just buying new then? Ive no long bought a Makita (Dolmar) EA4300f up from Amazon.de for 200 euro's. came with two Oregon chains and an 18'' bar. Thats a 43cc saw as well.
  15. The SNP dont have to pay a penny towards the cost of furloughing the vast majority of the population. So the longer people are getting free money the better she'll look and the worse the repercussions will be for the UK as a whole. When it comes a time to put the tax up to repay all this she'll just point the finger at the Tories and say its all their fault, vote SNP. Its a cynical political play on her part and nothing else. Messing with peoples lives and livelihoods for stupid games. She really boils my piss.
  16. Nah, Spit Roasted them. [emoji6] Two at the same time. [emoji3]
  17. Yes, I did spot that. So why dry only? You'd assume a Gatepost is only something you'd find outside and then will obviously get wet and absorb moisture. So I asked the question if its for inside or outside use.
  18. A bit about reactions on the wood database. https://www.wood-database.com/western-red-cedar/ Someone here started a thread on the reactions and toxicity of wood and posted up a word doc for it. Might be worth a look back?
  19. You could always rest the saw on an oil absorbing mat?
  20. Where is the post going that it needs to be dried and not green? At 7" Im struggling to think where in a house that would would go? Unless you have a Tudor Manor or a Timber Framed House of course.
  21. I really hope thats the case as well. I agree here too, its absolutely about control now. Its been a perfect opportunity for our, and other governments to use this 'pandemic' as a data gathering exercise. There will be whole departments extrapolating this data for future population control. ''For our own safety''. And the people will welcome it with open arms.
  22. Now thats another brilliant idea! I have a mate that keeps a few Saddle Backs and sells the Pigglets off each time they are up the spout. I bought a couple last year for a Spit Roast, was amazing! A Couple of them rooting around will soon have the ground nicely churned over! They seem to be a right bugger for escaping though.
  23. Where do you find such fish to buy? Would I have to go to the Fish Mongers or do Tesco's sell them? Maybe re-branded as something else? I'm all for supporting my local Fishmongers but in my town we have to drive 45 minutes to get to the coast and the Fishmonger doubles up as a Poultrier. (Is that even a word? ) He plucks all the game birds for the estates around us and I drop a few Chickens and ducks off to him through the year. So his fish selection leaves a lot to be desired.
  24. Thanks for the info. Another name to google search, cheers. Good tips on forming a Pan below the Tine level, good info. Cheers.
  25. Could be a good post (boom boom!) for the Milling Forum but Im sure the guys there will read the General Section as well. In Oak that would be quite heavy. Just under 50kg maybe?
