  2. Is your username a tribute to the band?
  3. We should consider the Swedish population density compared to the UK. 25 people per km2 versus 250 as a UK average and in England its 430 per km2. Even Scotland which many consider to be quite empty has a population density of 70 per km2. But saying that in Stockholm this will be vastly different. In the UK have gotten so used to havinng every aspect of our lives governed for us that when the government actually give clear direction, but one that needs us to use our own common sense meany simply cant cope and melt down. Is the answer more regulation or less? I dont think Lock-downs been that great a success. Those that will die of C-19 will still die of it in the future, some due to age, some due to lifestyle choices. And as you mention we could well b killing more in the long run by the drastic cutting back of other screenings, deaths that could have easily been avoided, as opposed to deaths that have just been delayed a little. And in that short delay they have to live like prisoners with no social interaction or family time. Personally Im all for Herd Immunity but controlled in such a fashion that hospitals can cope with the steady influx. The Media have demonised it though, and the vast majority of the population is now petrified about leaving the house, backed up with getting paid virtually the same to sit around at home.
  4. It’s an 1880’s Sandstone Farmhouse. No insulation, original single glazed Sash and Case Windows. Under the floorboards it’s just mud. And one wall is now exposed Sandstone. Will get modernised at some point. But right now we run the stove with the top vent fully open from 07:00-22:00 with the living room door open and it’s keeping the family toasty. It’s getting milder now so it’s getting started later and the vents about half open, but we’ve just had a cold snap that’s taken the temp just below zero at nights so the vents creeping open again.!? I’ll stick with my 400mm logs. It’s a lot less physical work making firewood that way.
  5. Well there's been degree's of Lock-down, but globally (lets ignore China) its a remarkably low figure. I just dont see the UK having 250,000 deaths where there not not have been lock down, or a much more relaxed version of it that had not destroyed the economy. Anyway, enjoy your evening. Time for me to read my book.
  6. Im not saying that lock down has not slowed the infection and death rate. I just asked where the magic number of 250,000 came from? Is it something conjured up or is it actually backed up with anything? Lets keep in mind the global deathtoll is just over 300,000. Anyway, an interesting perspective on the subject. Does lockdown really decrease Covid deaths? | The Spectator WWW.SPECTATOR.CO.UK It has become clear that a hard lockdown does not protect old and frail people living in care homes – a population the...
  7. Bloody hell, what have you done this time? Those prison cocks must be delicious.
  8. Generally more than enough. As I mentioned Im running an 11kw in that same space, although I have a higher ceiling. So really you're just advising people with 5kw stoves to cut their logs to 230-250mm?
  9. So my reasoning on 250,000 deaths differs from yours and that makes me an Erudite armchair epidemiologist but not you? Interesting. And I’m literally lying in bed with three glasses of water and just polished off a Peparami Stick. Nothing in my demeanour has changed in the last day or hour, sorry to disappoint you. I feel like I almost have to show you the level of my whisky bottle next. ?
  10. I was being intentionally and overly facetious the first post hence all the ..... at the end. Clearly irony does not translate well over the interwebs....... And to be honest Ive hardly touched the Booze. Just not felt in the mood. Ive had two nips of the whisky and 6 330ml cans of beer.
  11. I dont agree with your interpretation. Where that the case they CPS would have no need to appologise. The failure to pursue the allegations has raised uncomfortable questions for some of Britain’s most trusted institutions. It could be argued this was deliberate, regardless, the whole situation was handled increadibly badly, for whatever reason. And the failings lie firmly at Starmers door. The one and only time Ive been to court was when I was 17, for breaking a lads jaw into three pieces. That was enough for me. Regardless, your frequent visits have no bearing on the facts as reported. That is the CPS had to appologise for their failings, no perceived failings. They could have prosecuted Savile on 3/4 of the cases, that would imply that 3/4 had enough evidence or they could not prosecute, and 1/4 could not be actioned on as they never had enough evidence. But for one reason or another the CPS, headed by Starmer refused to do so.
  12. Why appologise then? Why did a review find that 3/4 of of the cases brought to the Police and CPS could have prosecuted Savile but chose not to. To think a high profile case like this never crossed Starmer's desk is at best naive and at worse turning a blind eye.
  13. Off's off. You need to be bang on if you're gonna slag someone else's grammar. Especially in the very post you're doing so.
  14. Re-read what you've just written, then think of the irony of calling out someone else's English.
  15. Not so; The Crown Prosecution Service has apologised for failing to pursue allegations of child abuse against Jimmy Savile after details of Scotland Yard’s probe into the late BBC presenter revealed allegations of more than 200 crimes committed over six decades. A review of the scandal released on Friday found that Savile could have been prosecuted in three-quarters of the cases but that police and prosecutors had treated alleged victims with an unjustified “degree of caution”.
  16. Odd, I can read it in one tab back cant follow my own link to the article. It could be argued that it was Starmers department and his head should have rolled. But as no one on the left seems to be calling for that its one to keep in the back pocket for a later use. Anyway, the first few paragraphs read; The Crown Prosecution Service has apologised for failing to pursue allegations of child abuse against Jimmy Savile after details of Scotland Yard’s probe into the late BBC presenter revealed allegations of more than 200 crimes committed over six decades. A review of the scandal released on Friday found that Savile could have been prosecuted in three-quarters of the cases but that police and prosecutors had treated alleged victims with an unjustified “degree of caution”. The failure to pursue the allegations has raised uncomfortable questions for some of Britain’s most trusted institutions. In addition to police and prosecutors, scrutiny has focused on the BBC, whose former director-general, George Entwistle, resigned in connection with the affair, and hospitals where some of the alleged offences took place. Keir Starmer QC, the director of public prosecutions, accepted the conclusions of the review by Alison Levitt QC. It found that if police and prosecutors had taken a different approach – for example, telling complainants they were not the only people to make allegations against Savile – some cases could have been brought to court. But Ms Levitt found no evidence that the decisions not to prosecute were “consciously influenced by any improper motive”. Mr Starmer said the report should be seen as a “watershed moment” that needed a “robust response” from prosecutors.
  17. 250,000 people have died? Died where? And what of? The comment mentioned the NHS in the same context so Im assuming he's referring to the UK? Has the NHS collapsed? Nope, in fact the Nightingale Hospital has either shut down, or is about to be mothballed due to lack of demand.
  18. They the CPS apologised for the handling of it, they admitted culpability. Subscribe to read | Financial Times WWW.FT.COM News, analysis and comment from the Financial Times, the worldʼs leading global business publication
  19. I agree, whilst Starmer was head of CPS at the time they dropped the Ball on Savile it was not personally his fault. Much akin to Boris Johnson being head of the Tory party and its not his responsibility for the perceived Balls-up on the handling of C-19 in the UK.....
  20. Its certainly not an art-form appreciated by all. And for that Im very grateful.
  21. I don't like them that much. But I think you're gonna be in for a nasty shock when they both get re-elected though.
  22. So forget The Blair Years, then its forget the Corbyn Years but now Labour have got it right? Its like that Tree Hugger on the other thread. Communism failed before, (and continues to fail) because they where not the right kind of Communism.
  23. Whats the reason for this advice? My new stove takes 450mm logs, so thats what I cut them to. Maybe 400mm I cant really remember? Anyway, there is an inch each end of the logs to breath/ignite. Seems to suit me fine. It reduces my cutting and splitting time but at least 1/3rd to 1/2 over 230mm. And Im still glad I went for the 11kw Stove. Although its a little cooler now with the living room door open its a perfect temp running the Stove where it should be. Maybe when I get the room fully insulated I'll need to either install the Boiler Option or swap out for a smaller model if Im not needing the water. But till then its great.
