  1. You really dont want to deny a smoker a fag now and then, ive seen it result in problematic machinery being ejected from the tree. Its ok though it was a 201tc...
  2. Videos dont work for me on android wes
  3. I had a 020av,ran it for a while, can pull a 16"bar no bother.Very heavy though. Mine stopped working, probably an easy fix but they are an absolute bitch to service nevermind sort so i left it in the lock up for a couple of years. Sold it too some fella on here just a while back.
  4. Looks like an immitation petzl avao harness, and those are really shite!
  5. Sheet bend, marlin spike and bowline. Teach em a prussik too for setting up a 3:1 pulling system
  6. Bought a 2nd hand ms 180 off an old fella years ago and it ran sweet as a nut for ages-at least 3 years-didnt do a thing to it just sharpend the chain. Great little saw.. Or maybe i just got lucky
  7. I know several guys who have done as you advised, get a van and chipper and go for it.None have lasted more than a year. Also the we are unregulated thing is bollocks mate,as stated before by someone else we are regulated by HSE,puwer, loler, working at heights etc. Im pretty amazed you would advise someinone with no knowledge, experience or even basic qualifications in the industry to just start up a tree firm. If the guy had a couple of years experience under his belt and was a go getter then sure but he aint so your advice- in.my opinion-is bad.
  8. Really..??? Pretty bad advice imo Mr Blair. Listen mate if your keen- go for it but as has been mentioned before it aint all big beech trees on dry sunny days,be prepared for hard slog in really really shite weather and challenging environments, not to mention ball busting customers, thats not too say the job doesnt have its good points-when things are going right and your enjoyin your job its a real buzz. Theres loads of advice i could give you but im bot gonna cause part of the fun is learning the industry. Good luck Dont let anything get in your way if your passionate
  9. If that was the case then Scotland would be well on its way to independance. The general opinion of scotland down south is that we are a leech on the arse of england when in reality we give more to the economy of the UK than we get in return via the block grant. In not ant i UK or pro independance i just would like to see us all prosper...
  10. 2 guys in a bucket form a mewp, hand held sections-1 cutting 1 holding. Definetly no rigging off that tree..
  11. Natural selection in effect id say. Rigging off dead trees that your anchored into is for crazy barstewards or idiots, espescially taking such a big section. If in doubt of the strength of the tree use a mewp. Be lucky not to get a serious injury from that one
  12. The car is dead... So is the lamp post... However the neighbour wanted the rounds...bonus. Dont usually take photos but i dont get that many dead car jobs..
  13. Just a rope with a bowline tied round the section of wood over a crotch wes, only done it handful of times...usually when we dont have the rigging kit with us to be honest But yeah minimal equipment less to go wrong mate
  14. Yeah ive crotch rigged some stuff just with a guy on a rope
  15. Husky technicals are good trousers, bit over priced if im being honest.Pfanners are really good aswell Boots id say meindl woodwalkers are the best ground boots ive worn. Hiax do some good boots aswell, had a pair some years back but cant remember what theyre called. Best boots ive had are andrews cervino's but theyre more aimed at climbers id say.
  16. Look at a 346 xp. Still sell new ones in france
  17. T shirt and usual ppe in sumer/spring/autumn. In winter a baselayer and t shirt plus jacket/fleece and usual ppe.
  18. My thoughts are the daily mail is for idiots. No offence to you Wes but that rag gets right on my tits.Full of $hite
  19. True we are seeing a rise in the right wing political movement and id agree that its mostly been due to the media/political feeding frenzy and biased reporting by tabloids of immigrants being the root of all our woes...but thats just not the truth. Immigration is a problem on the continent but its not the cause of all there problems however the media try make it look as though it is. As we know politics is cyclical and after years of liberal politics we are starting to see the rise of the right. Just how far a rise we dont know yet but i doubt it would be significant enough to take power in Germany for example. Before you start retorting to this post matelot...i know your view that immigration is the work of the devil and all his little whining leftie minnions so you dont have to try to debunk this post or condem it. We know how you feel in this subject so no need to hammer it home AGAIN
  20. arbtalk would be pretty boring if it had a breathaliser before posting
  21. Ive travelled to places that are concidered to be third world countries with my time in the forces. Had some good experiences some bad. Its difficult to argue against matelots point-i would agree that some third world countries the entire political/army/police are massivley corrupt but you cant say all third world countries are the same. As for the David Cameron quote ... I wouldnt quote any politician as theyre just as guilty of corruption, lying and greed as any bent third world country official.
  22. Smokin rollies and pinching the chainsaw whilst cross cutting
  23. Steven and scott smith at treemendous might be able to sort you out.Give em a buzz..theyre good lads.
