  2. I find big ladders helps with throwlines. I throw like a girl so i gave up on those bloody things... Luckily the others can throw so i hate myself cause they make it look so easy.. Still prefer ladders and throwing ahead
  3. Would you perhaps be a civil engineer then matelot...?
  4. What..??? Poof..😂😜 Sent from my SM-G900F using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. Have you conscidered a stihl ms 241 14"bar..? At 3bhp and very ergonomic its worth a look imo
  6. Its beyond wrong... Its utter bollocks.. The loonies are running the asylum
  7. So state pension age is 68.. Average lifespan of a glaswegian male is 71... So ive got 3 years of bliss... Hooray!
  8. I posted awhile back.Good to repost for this for those who may have missed it 1st time round. Did you see the warning for the treemtion leg loops stitching aswell? http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/climbers-talk/109040-tm-safety-warning-leg-loops.html#post1594922
  9. Yeah ive seen some needles on jobs but it was before i was doing tree work.We are provided with a sharps container and just use litter pickers to pick up any needles we come across.Tbh id be asking the gaffer to be pulled off site if i came across any
  10. Ok so pulling down 2 willows over the last 2 days on a plot of rough land next to a path just behind a row of houses. We took 11 bags of litter out that plot! Granted it hadent been touched in donkeys years but wtf is wrong with people? Theres 2 bins on this path one at either side.. Whats even more annoying is the amount of alcohol containers we took out the place-every possible alcohol vessel you can name we picked it and bagged it many times over. We found the obligitory pair of nasty undies but alas no porn mags which is the norm hidden in bushes. We often get our fair share of litter pickin once an area has been opened up but f#$k me this was unreal! I just dont get people at times Pisses me off
  11. Not in my experience. If its as a subbie climber then its definetly a nessecity to have all your own gear but you've just started, so for me its a wee bonus but most firms have extra kit lying around unused anyway.

I really dont get the big bar syndrome, ive crosscut big stems and felled fair sized trees with a 22 or 25" bar. Its not the size its how you use it... Just ask my wife..
  13. Im pretty sure most big gardening stores will carry some arb equipment. Some may even order some gear in if your in and out the shop regular.
  14. Yeah its very frustrating there are plenty down south but just a few up here.Ive got one on my doorstep-Hamilton brothers in Bishopton.Theres another Hamilton brothers in Tarbolton in ayrshire and another in Campbeltown. The one near me has a fairly decent selection of arb gear but its not really competative in price or selection of stock with the big online suppliers down south.
  15. Subbing for different companies is dicey. The few ive worked for have been decent but one sticks out in my head, the job was in edinburgh, nowt dodgey just a row of connies to come down,me and another climber and 2 ground guys,i turned up to find 1x 17 year old lad with a couple of weeks experience draggin and chipping. The boss had dropped him of with the chipper and took the other lads to another job. I walked.. To be honest i only work for the companies who i know to be decent but its getting to know whos good and who are shadey barstewards-thats the tricky bit.
  16. Hi Mr Kipling,i love your cakes.,except battenburg...thats just awful.Big pat on the back for the french fancies-awesome! Why only 2 yellow ones in the box though...thats caused many a fall out with me and the Mrs...
  17. Just started reading this. It has workouts and training regimes involved aswell. Time to start growing my beard again me thinks... Sent from my SM-G900F using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. Just tie a black binbag to the armrest in the van so it hangs over the footwell of the rear of the van. Pretty simple...or am i missing summit?
  19. Dont believe the stereotype mate,1 in 3 of us are in some kind of employment dont ye know.
  20. Disguising yourself as a glaswegan now eh newton.. Your rumbled..
  21. So what was the topic for discussion/arguement/banter before all this naming names malarky?
  22. Yeah im unsure of the reasoning/thought process behind this demand myself.Really dont understand how it can be construed as an equal basis as "TIM"says
  23. Why is knowing someones name suddenly provide an as you say equal basis. I can debate with anyone on here i dont need to know there name and address to feel equal...how bizarre!
  24. I know very few on heres names or where they live. If i know there name its because they use there name ie mark bollam, joe newton or steve bullman. There are others on here who use different names timber cutter dartmore, silky fox or difflock...i dont know there names and i dont care. Why the sudden urgency to know who and where people are all of a sudden? What gives you the right to ask? All my details are available on my profile so any member of this site can look me up. I dont have a problem identifying myself,i didnt chose stihlmadasever because i needed aninimety i just like stihlmadasever. Anyway im stephen, i live in helensburgh work in west dumbartonshire just outside glasgow.Im employed by the council as a tree surgeon and grounds maintenance. I sub myself out as a climber/groundie/hand cutter or whatevers required to pay my morgage. I am a pisces and enjoy warm summer evenings pulling my plonker to the macarena... You seem to have a hard on for this like you've summit too prove scotspine...?
