  1. You could have a divorce "celebration" BBQ when all sorted and have some of these dotted around for atmosphere!!!!!!
  2. Nice idea and good job. Might do one for my good lady and score some brownie points for myself........
  3. My chains, which are all Oregon are factory supplied at 30 degrees and I stick to this when sharpening, apart from the obvious 10 degrees on milling chains is there any benefit to a 20 or 25 degree sharpening angle, and if so why? education please? Stuart
  4. If your in Norfolk happy to turn them out for you. The bandsaw idea also work well, there are some videos on the www of hidden compartment's being made in logs for storage of spare keys etc. I think it will depend on your access or not to machinery and how much time you have. S.
  5. Had a play with a couple of the standard kits I had left over last night, made me realize just how good these are and the skill involved. Best I practice a bit more on small items, too long on hollow forms and platters...........

    Basic PPE

Ok I have put it off for too long so gonna get some proper PPE clothing. Looking for advice on chaps / trousers. There are several on Fleabay, I cant justify (price wise anyway:blushing:) new togs so advice on something for the occasional user. Are the sizes on the garments accurate, and what about arms and gloves. You guys are in them all day so appreciate your views.
  12. I like these a lot, can you tell me what "kits" you are using as the quality look of a very high standard? Stuart
  13. They are hitting the peas hard here in Norfolk, great fun over decoys.
  14. Put mine on concrete blocks with a layer of DPC between block and timber to keep damp out. Make sure its level........
  15. Before mechanical circular saws , tree trunks and large baulks of timber were sawn longitudinally using a 6 foot long two man saw.The lucky man stood over the log whilst the new guy stood in a pit below the log – top man pulled the saw upwards , the pit man pulled it downwards. The pit man got all the saw dust and occaisionally bits of timber and broken saw – hence the expression “the pits”to describe a bad job or experince.
  16. How about an old refrigerated lorry body?

    Tree Bees

The tree bee society emailed me the below info....... The type of Bee you have is a Tree Bee, Bombus Hypnorum. In late February/early March of this year, the Queen will have come out of winter hibernation and found a nesting site which happens to be in your bird box! There she will build a small nest, about the size of your hands cupped together, and will lay eggs to bring up new Queens, foragers and males. Each nest contains around only 50 bees. You may start to see some activity on the outside in a few weeks – this isn’t the bees swarming and is actually stingless males waiting outside the nest for the new virgin Queens to fly out on a mating flight. It looks aggressive, but isn’t. Around August/September when the newly mated Queen bees leave their nest and hibernate underground for the winter, the rest of the colony will gradually die off. The males are usually the first to leave and die off, as usually they will have just mated and after this they die. Any other foragers in the nest will wait until the Queens leave, then will leave and die off themselves. The nest doesn’t contain honey or wax like in a Honeybee nest and will just break down naturally and leave nothing behind.

    Tree Bees

I got a nest of Tree Bees in a birdhouse, apparently these are non aggressive and an invasive species, any one else got them?
  21. Had a very pleasant few hours on Saturday sitting over some decoys, good few birds about coming into the pattern in 4`s and 5`s. Very windy day which meant that the birds came in at a stand still but when turned with the wind were like little grey rockets. Came away with a bag of twenty, but missed many more, saw a few Roe deer a Heron and lots of skylarks (not seen them for a while) Great day!
