  1. 7am here, misty, but birds are singing and it’s sort of daylight. Spring is coming!
  2. I would say the 2511 is a revolutionary saw. The 201/540 is like hanging a breeze block off your belt. With the power of the 2511 you bridge the gap between the super light saws and the (aforementioned) 35cc toppers. A bit temperamental and needs another bar chain combo, but a brilliant saw.
  3. Agree with all that, worked on loads back in my working in London days. Any bit of waste ground seemed to get a decent size sycamore on it in a few years. Only downside is the aphids in the late spring (if you’re climbing) otherwise a pleasure to deal with.
  4. All you will see is some guys dressed in black, hoodies and masks.
  5. I believe Timberwolf stopped making them and supporting them, so draw your own conclusions. I read that the turntable was a bit vulnerable so most people have them welded up in position. @bigtreedon has one, so he’s the man to give you a review.
  6. I’ve seen people stack the brush on the stools.
  7. I live in a country like that.
  8. Amongst all the ridiculous ‘hang ‘em up by the bollocks’ suggestions, this one isn’t too bad.
  9. We soooo need a picture for this one..
  10. I don’t know that episode, but I bet Kirk shagged her.
  11. Coppice them. Do a proper job.
  12. Yep, that’s about the bones of it. The only thing to be careful of is when you get further along the trunk, enough for the top to sit straight in the ground and then it’s anyone’s guess which way it’ll fall. Bit of common sense will see you through though.

    Boing

That’s a good shout. Makes sense when you look at it.
  14. Last years nest. At least 25metres up!
  15. It’s about as old as @eggsarascal’s one about the burglar and the Rottweiler. Circa 1970s
  16. It’s been done with many different lighthouses/Navies
  17. It is a gonner I’m afraid (well it’s pretty much gone anyway) You have a bit of regrowth there but that amounts to nothing. It will have to come out at some point.
  18. I like eucs, easy dismantles, chips nice, sure they’re short term, but so what?
  19. Some little Renault express type thing I would have thought. Keep your stuff dry, runs on fumes.
  20. Only since ‘99 in Europe. You reckon if the Yanks could buy a competitive US built saw they’d buy a Swedish (or German) one?
  21. The theory is that Stihl and Husky make their money on this stuff rather than the pro saws, they sell many more of these than the pro saws. But, they sell them because the average Joe sees Stihl and Husky stuff in the hands of the pros and equates the brand with quality. MaCulloch made the mistake of dumping their pro saw range years ago in favour of the homeowner stuff and lost out because the public lost faith in the brand. I read it somewhere but it makes sense.
  22. Just seems such an odd thing to spend all day arguing about.
