  1. Not too old, but probably knocking on the door. There's bound to be someone on in a bit saying they started at age 73 and now 30 years later they're as good as anyone (Timon probably) What do you hope to achieve? If you think that it's just day after day of swinging around trees to rapturous applause coming down at the end covered in sweat and sawdust to be ushered into the client's master bedroom to rut with the wife like a pair of seasoned up hyenas, pausing briefly on the way out to collect a grand in cash from the grateful husband, well, that's only two or three days a week. What do you do now? Why do you want to do this work? BTW. in answering these questions use of the word "passionate" like its Masterchef or something is banned
  2. Pretty good Jon, slow August as usual! I don't mind though, heat can be unpleasant.
  3. Why not turn it round? Get the tree work yourself and sub a climber in, more lucrative, and you're in charge.
  4. Agreed. As far as I can can see it's an advertisement, which is fine and all that, as long as it's posted as an advertisement.
  5. Dawn redwood perhaps? Is it rare? Well, it's not native, not common certainly
  6. Don't forget, first the guy had to run to eastwatch, then a raven had to fly the other way, Dany had to put on that "winter" coat then do the return journey. Good stuff though.
  7. Left handers are devil's spawn, here's how to deal with them!
  8. Could be a tropical hardwood or just about anything if it came in on the tide. No reason to think it's British (or even European)

It's a old saw anyway, give it a go and tell us what happens.
  10. You just sort of know after years and years of looking at trees.
  11. If you're planning on bringing the rest of it back to hedge height I'd give it a go. Young oaks are more resistant to heavy pruning than you might think. Was that the question?
  12. Sure it's not processional oak caterpillars?
  13. I rolled the rayco with the same engine, just replaced the air filter "mushroom" Put it on its side more times than I can remember. Just wait for the oil to go back down to the sump, start it up and crack on. yes, good looking conversion.
  14. To get out and get the chèque.
  15. Yes, when the wheel (nearly) fell off my 150 I winched it on, no issues.
  16. Very nice indeed. Looked a bit like a branch was wandering into next doors roof for a moment there.
  17. Tom, get some photos up then you might elicit some interest.
  18. No, you're right Mark, A big long hedge will cost as much to maintain per annum as a medium priced family holiday. Plus the clippings are difficult to dispose of. I hate them and rarely do them these days.
  19. Yes, to own slaves! That's what It says in the declaration of secession.
