  1. Blimey Steve! how to makes us all feel like we’re making a mistake!
  2. Looking at the vids of the latest London bridge thing. looks like some members of the public took him on, and one in particular was holding him down, till it looks like a copper pulled him away (suicide vest?) and gave him the old one two. Some brave blokes around.
  3. You’ll be lucky to get rid for nothing.
  4. Basically it says use two ropes from now on.
  5. Pete, it’s all but over. Like you said, a unique industry, so small it escaped the eye of Sauron for a long time, but’s it is being assimilated into the Borg (at least in the UK) finally brought to heel by the guys with clipboards and yellow jackets. (I’m aware I’m mixing the Lord of the Rings with Star Trek, don’t @me)
  6. Lots of conflicting advice for the OP. FTR mine is take it out in one go, poison the stump, ensure that gutters and drains are running clear.
  7. That’s what I think as well, but my point was the guy isn’t just stringing the client along.
  8. Your tree surgeon is following the official line on how to prevent or minimise heave, so he’s not trying anything on. Plenty of peeps doubt the efficacy of this method, but it won’t be causing any more damage. I always advise poisoning the stumps of acacias, then grind (after a growing season) once you know it’s dead.
  9. Commercial dogging. (rained off today, expect more of this sort of time wasting nonsense from me)
  10. I was only thinking of finding an old copy of Levkas Man by Hammond Innes the other day! Read it twice as a younger man, good book. Enjoying the blog VI.
  11. Beech by the look of it, there’s a report in the Daily Mail. Edit, here’s where it happened, someone who knows the area could google earth then do a street view to get a look at the tree.
  12. Before he goes to the US they should send back that woman who killed that kid on the motor bike. (neither will happen)
  13. Their wood, their chip, what they do with it is their business, I don’t see where you’re coming from tbh.
  14. I’ve not been impressed with the winches on MOs (just on the vids mind) They look a bit anemic.
  15. A tractor mounted forestry winch on à pto will be in a different league to a portable petrol winch.
  16. What’s Mascis? Googled it but nothing.
  17. Looking at it from the outside, it’s a done deal, mupping’n’squealing about it will have no consequence, they’ll tell you to get a tracked mewp in. In utility and public works they’ll get used to it, because they’re not against the clock in the same way as others. Game’s gone, or at least it’s on the way out.
  18. Get a demo on one before forking out for that steam punk piece of junk. They are astonishingly good.
