  1. No, perfectly normal behavior, it does help being 6’19’’of course.
  2. Hey, it’s cheaper than The Cloud! And you know where to find it.
  3. Not sure you’re right Rich, it raised issues about this place that needed airing, is the golden age of the privately owned/run forum on its way out? Is there anything to be done?
  4. Following the whole terf/trans thing is a bit of a hobby of mine. I’ve no dog in the fight so to speak, but it’s a fascinating ideological battle, with more than a few laughs thrown in as you noticed.
  5. It’s nothing to do with argumentative sorts like Andy, that has been used years ago about other peeps (I was the pantomime villain here oncewhen the forum was at its peak) I am on another yankee forum where it’s the same story. As has been said it’s down to FB groups, younger tree blokes gravitate toward these groups. Why? I don’t know, but then I’m not young. It’s the way it is.
  6. Undoubtedly it is the most offensive swear word in our lexicon.
  7. It was a metaphor, a bit like the phrase ‘arms length’
  8. Lots and lots and lots of people are in same boat, me included.
  9. You’re right of course (re. relative costs) but for this guy, who wants a truly impartial opinion, it’s his best option.
  10. I’m not saying it should go but... That included union goes nearly all the way down to the ground, left to its own devices that is going to let go at some point. It is a tree with a serious structural fault and will need reduction, cabling and regular inspections. Because of that I would only get involved in a removal if asked. Not being party to the conversation you had with the tree guy I’m reluctant to say he’s fibbing. It was just a chat while he was working next door As others have said get a guy with letters after his name in to have a look and write out a report. my 2p.
  11. I figured a sort of sarcasm emoji was insulting, apparently not.
  12. Good news is you have two of them, so there’s a back up.
  13. It’s a fair point. 2511 up top. 550xp snedding and general ground work. 576xp or similar for felling and major bucking. Everything else is as a back up or for the extraordinary.
  14. Very resilient to heavy pruning ime.
  15. You cannot possibly go through life without doing something that could be perceived as destroying the planet, if you look hard enough. Even if he’d made them locally, people like you would find something to use as a stick to beat them with, gas stoves, freezers, car parks, nylon underwear.
  16. I’m no fan of this ExRe. Far from it. However, the lazy old argument about anyone who is involved in this sort of thing is a hypocrite, because of something they did, like import yurts, take a flight, wear leather shoes etc. somehow invalidates their protest, is ridiculous.
  17. Alright I’m in, check this guy out, one handing an 090, no ear protection, jeans ffs!, plus foot in a cast, and not wearing any hi viz.:) I’m being facetious of course, but I reckon it’s better to analyse a cock up than pick apart something that went right.
  18. Only prob with that vid is the high level of awesome skill on display.
