  1. Just pop the cheque in the post mate. Looks like I might need the money to pay back my BBL 😆🤦🏼‍♂️💩
  2. Sullivan’s Engineering Log splitters | website WWW.SULLIVANSENGINEERING.CO.UK
  3. I think is is what my mate did come to think about it. The one he had wasn’t specific to the Avant. Good knowledge.
  4. A mate I used to work with a lot had one of these, but it wasn’t the Avant one. It was from an Irish firm if I recall. I’ll try and remember what it was. It was straightforward enough to operate and quite productive. It used to creep down on the boom a fair bit so we used to find some logs to pop underneath. That’s one thing I liked about it, because you had it on the boom you could adjust the height for each user. Saved getting a wrecked back. Let me get back to you with more details.
  5. The worst part is it’s all recorded in the MOT history check you can perform on the DVLA website. Some twunt listed my car as having corroded sills, I’ve checked and there is no sign of this at all and it has never subsequently came up on any further MOT since then. I tried to sell the car a while ago and a few folk said they were put off by this advisory on the history. Also the DPF light was on, and all this means is a service is due (on my Mazda). Another pointless thing.
  6. Me and John have spoken about this, but cheers for the thought htb.
  7. A decent alarm clock so folk aren’t late! I’ll second the vote for what three words. Very useful and easy to use.
  8. That joke is legendary in our family. One Christmas that was the only joke in an entire box of crackers, we laughed a lot!
  9. And it’s still snowing so could be a decent sledging day with the boy 😎
  10. Day off it is then!
  11. Rough with the smooth mate! Chin up!
  12. Welcome to the club mate! 👍🏻🕺🏻
  13. Mint! 💪🏻👌🏼
  14. I’ve not got experience myself of using these, but my good friend @Gray git has it and rates it. Think he has it’s bigger brother too. Not sure on price but reckon John could give you ballpark figures. JAK 250 Excavator Tree Shear Grapple - Jas P Wilson WWW.JASPWILSON.CO.UK a JAK Excavator Tree Shear Grapple is a fast, efficient and cost effective tool for first thinnings, site management...
  15. That’s a wedge of coin for the Husky 😳 on Amazon. Think I paid about £25 at local place, but could be wrong.
  16. I think there is no doubt the capacity to perform is there with Forst. When they’re working they do so very well. But the poor build quality, lack of quality control, above market average depreciation, and a lack of acceptance of these problems should be enough to put anyone off. I have heard the phrase Friday afternoon machine used, and it appears most work on Forst chippers is done at some point on a Friday. I’m not one for bashing brands online, but my experience of Forst is not good, and that’s several different machines at different times with different crews. I’d absolutely love it if Lux got the chipper they clearly wanted and expected. It’s be the best outcome to this situation. But the omens ain’t good unfortunately.
  17. Forst = Fixed Or Repaired Seasonally Typically I’m afraid a lot of new stuff has built in obsolescence. It’s just Forst seem to have put all her efforts into that being the one thing their products excel in from the get go.
  18. That was a 16ft Ifor I borrowed off a mate. It does fit on, but I’m not sure how the nose weight would be affected on the trailer. I towed it back from Hull to North Yorkshire with no dramas.
  19. @josharb87 I could talk about my Logbullet for days mate 🤦🏼‍♂️😆 anything you want to know more about feel free to get in touch either PM on here or via contact details on my website. Happy to chat!
  20. Thanks Khriss! Thanks to Bullman of course 👍🏻😁
  21. The manufacturer has been great, getting all the parts out to me usually very quickly. The bits that broke usually end up replaced with uprated components as I feel the machines design is evolving constantly. Me and Big J have pushed these machines to the limit and beyond briefly, we have definitely experienced our fair share of breakages! For me that’s been part of the learning journey though, I’ve pushed it and pushed it until it broke. Now I have a clear understanding of its capabilities! I have managed to fix some problems myself, but the local engineering firm have had a fair bit of business from me. Mainly because they have the know how and right tools for the job. No point me faffing on for weeks on end trying to fix things myself when they can have it done in a few days and back earning again. With regards to trailer.... when I bought the machine all I knew was it was 17ft long. So I got myself a behemoth Ifor Williams trailer! 17ft 9inch internal length, triple axle, chequer plate flooring and 6 internal tie down points. Plus led lights too and the larger wheel and tyre option. You might be able to get away with a 16ft one and have a wee bit of overhang front and back though.
  22. By bells and whistles I mean bed extension, boom extension on crane, 600kg winch on crane, large grapple, updated controls, tipping body for bunk, clam shell inserts for grapple etc etc.
  23. Anywhere from about 26k for the basic model, up to around 32k with all bells and whistles. Plus shipping costs too of about 1k ish.
  24. Hi Josh, Things are going really well thanks! Client/customer base building nicely, got three local estates who use me for all the first thinning work and hoping to add more estates this year. Only real issues with machine have been of my own doing i.e habitual overloading leading to various failures. They all seemed to come in succession too so there was several months where it felt very frustrating. I added a fair few mods to it from day one, various guarding some etc. I’ve also had new more beefy bolsters made up and got myself a swing damper for the crane. Also added some LED light bars recently too. it’s taken me a long time to get fully accustomed to all its quirks and traits but I’d dare say I’m pretty slick on it now. I can move 25ish ton in a day which I think is very reasonable for a small machine. The thing that gives greatest satisfaction is the low impact part of it all. I can drive past sites I’ve been on a year ago and you can’t even tell I’ve been there. Seeing tangible results from my efforts is very satisfying! My social media side had taken off nicely too. I got that nice feature in Forestry Journal, I won a local business award, and got some other media stuff lined up for this year. I’ve met some really decent folks through Instagram and Facebook, and had paid work too. The biggest thing I wish I had was a cab in the machine as it’s been dam cold and wet at times! Good job I’m made of stern stuff 💪🏻👍🏻😁 The business will be expanding in the forthcoming weeks too, watch this space!
  25. Or just buy Aspen 🤪😉😆
