  1. no it is not home schooling for example in which they only have to do 15 hours per week (think this is the only example) might be wrong on the hours but i know it is far less than school and they choose when to go on holiday the law is about schooling not about when and where and lets get this straight it's not cake as if it a luxury to have kids it's a fundamental human right !!!!!!!!!!! even for people who struggle with it it still there right to find and use ways in which to have children weather that's IVF or adoption I personally can't afford the fine or afford a good hot holiday because that's what we are really talking about so i do neither (i do have holidays but they tend to be place few want to go to usually in winter ) and let get this straight just because someone make a rule doesn't mean its a good one
  2. the whole school scheme is a complete farce having a holiday in term time makes no difference what so ever to grade or the intelligence of kids even if you did it every year Intelligent kids do not become Ignorant kids in that time and 2 extra weeks to for the less intelligence kids does not make them suddenly intelligent!!!! my local schools ofsted report is excellent but its base only on the fact they have a high attendance as they point blank refuse anytime off in term time coupled to the fact i live on the biggest housing estate in britain where 70-80 of it social housing and viewed as a deprived area the parent here just can't afford the fines
  3. what ??? needed a before pic as i have little idea what you have done
  4. ok some simple stuff have you got the engine revving at the top ? is the pressure the same when you turn the engine off and you just press the trigger ? sounds like the pump to me though ! it could be the lance best way to test it is with another hose first and then another lance
  5. that's how to use a resource ! no waste at all
  6. [ame= ] [/ame] this one or one i made similar from scrap wood
  7. I've lost count of how many cars (well there driver ) have tried to run me over ,people moving barriers pedestrians crossing the street to look up at you to see what your doing etc etc etc even had a guy trying to get past traffic management realizing on coming traffic was there so drove in to coned area where branches and 2 groundies were !
  8. hey ho i went for it bought the one in your first post and i must say it makes the whole house warmer as it circulates the heat better rather than my front room becoming unbearable to sit in but it is only had it 2 months and it has been mild but tonight it is frozen outside and still its great all around the house we shall see if it lasts will update in march
  9. it is but it seems if you can get under the barrier at my local tip you can get away with it ! i personally can't also stick with your pricing go cheap and some jobs take longer than expected and you end up working for far too little my private jobs are difficult on pricing seems like i can't get the work either(i work on a highway contract so i do have regular tree work) but i'm sticking with what i want for the job some will do it cheaper some will do it more expensive I paid out for my quals and my kit i'm a professional I refuse to do professional work for laborers wage ! If you are i suggest you stay in landscaping as you will probably make a better wage off it your £500 wasn't way off for 2 days it's when you price it for £1000 that your way off but i suppose it's up to you. Try taking £50 off next time i don't know why in some peoples minds they see the 4 and think it is a far better price than the £500 it's why companies price everything with as £4.99 rather than £5
  10. i could be wrong but that looks more like a 50ft-60ft tree to me
  11. the 4 knots i was taught where the bow line, blakes hitch, prussik , and figure of eight as a stopper knot
  12. i charge £150 a day £75 for half i tend to get the work i also split by hand
  13. lmao he did spec was neighbour didn't want tree in there garden job done i work on the highway when i get a private tree i am by the high way act allowed (after 28 days notice ) to cut back to there property line no further !!!! unless i get there(or is it their oh well english is my achillies heel) permission i have had this so i cut back to the property line not a pruning cut in sight job was clear the highway job done
  14. well that's the difference your not a true business man ................. or your already getting paid for your time ! If every job you do and all your time doing it was unpaid what you got? nothing! self employed people can't do this as we get approached all the time to do something for nothing to be fair the guy should of removed branches but other than that he did the job ..... yes not to our standards but he did it !
  15. there is it's call a light meter lighting design engineers go out and take reading they know exactualy how much light should be there and what is lost(my twin brother is a lighting engineer in street lighting for 22 years ) and it being a quite road means nothing if a council are paying a contractor to to look after it's street lighting they will actually try to fine them for not keeping up with the maintenance or for not making a compliance lighting scheme or maintaining a current one
  16. its call a service strip which is a strange issue but one i deal alot in as i do highway street lighting basically they can't do a thing about as the srevice strip should of been kept clear at all times you find not only street lighting feeds in there but gas and and other services it's almost like they don't own the land
  17. that in failsworth? think i have seen a number of those about on my travels too
  18. work for an old dear all i do is cut her hedges 3 times a year got my Christmas liqueur started (got a bottle of wine ) i'm well happy

  20. go buy a proper polesaw silky now do one that is 7.7m long (smaller ones are available ) if thats not long enough that must be a monster of tree
  21. ok i grow my own veg have done for a while but my garden has high privet hedges ( not interested in removing them currently) i wish to gain the meter next to the hedge to increase my yield and my garden is not massive and has many other uses currently so thought of the idea of digging a trench a close to the hedge and filling with concrete as a barrier thing is i'm about a foot and half down and the soil is still very dry ! I know i know that's what privet does i'm just wondering what depth i need to go to stop the hedge from just growing under the concrete? any idea? or more to the point how deep privet hedges roots grow would prefer a permanent solution rather than a guess
  22. yeap hate them even though i mainly do highway work of my domestic work i seem to do 90% conifers on domestic work it's all they seem to grow lol
