  1. had that this week as well £500 before i'd even said when I would do the job ........ very little materials involved refused as I just don't work that way ! don't know if this compares to your pump cost but i actually find that i'm frightened for them as money seems to me to be easily handed over ! but as already said gives me a good feeling that people trust me even though I refuse the cash
  2. is the second stem alive? if it is it's pretty easy
  3. https://www.briggsandstratton.com/eu/en_gb/support/faqs/browse/lawn-mower-oil-change.html try this
  4. quick answer is no do not touch without permission from local council
  5. My spikes came with long one fitted to them and short loose in the bag so i just used what was fitted at first and just stuck with them as I some how lost the short ones (stupid me ) and keep forgetting to order shorter ones. Long oneswork out just fine but do get stuck a bit if you stand on them for too long in one place
  6. this looked interesting not sure it would last too long
  7. this works really well but because of the hard wheels in winter you need to set up on hard standing so less likely to get as close to the tree as you would like
  8. looks like a shrub to me and on looking it up it looks simular to a Garrya?
  9. ok you get paid for what you do that does not make you competent your own comments would prevent you working on any site I worked on risk assessment says is the person/persons qualified and competent to do the job being qualified means you can be on site it does not mean you can carry out the task in hand
  10. there's no gob just a back cut (that i can see) my take was what was he thinking!
  11. if you can force season them the size won't matter as long as you split them . i have done this in the past by splitting and stacking them in a green house for the summer
  12. I have the titan beaver but with the old style spout and have been in the market for the swivel spout I inquired about it 8 months ago but they didn't have any to buy at the time as they only had the ones on the new machine last month they phoned me back and said they were available for £90 which is a bit of a bargin but I have no spare cash at the moment as I have to replace my Van if you guys get one i would love to know how it performs compared with the old style
  13. Found at the base of a protected oak id and any info would be apreciated
  14. I also have tree hog spikes i lost the short spike (like the idiot I am. I keep meaning to order a short pair ) and only have the long spikes and they work well on any type of tree only issue you can have with the longer spike is that they can get stuck in a bit tight at times and you have to work them out which for me is ok as a prefer the spike to be in further in as I like the sense of security of having the spike deeper
  15. well your spot on . but i could argue that's on the ground and not in the air !? seriously though with being in the air and your saw being on a lanyard and it being impossible for the chainsaw to travel 5 metres then this surely does not count ? ( I'm assuming it's the saw traveling that far from kick back and not the timber suddenly throwing it's self 5 metres that their worried about ) but some safe distance is appropiate ,my lanyard is about a metre plus the saw length ....... even then the Mewp operator is too close . Interesting issue I have ! and yes I failed my cross cutting but carried on with other higher qualifications and got away with it ?
  16. that's an interesting thing your saying , out of the risk zone (as I understand it ) yes 5 metres away? never heard this as a rule or I've forgotten it could you reference where this is? just on a side note i'm pretty sure 99% of tree workers are breaking this 5 metres rule thing on every job they have ever done
  17. this is true i'm doing it tomorrow for a multinational company they provide the mewp and the Mewp operator .... I provide the saw operator (me ) both are as it says competent in there roles I won't be operating the Mewp and he won't be operating the chainsaw
  18. yes but best only in a stove well seasoned
  19. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/easy-fence-post-repair-support-offset-in-spike-goes-past-old-concrete-/181334444093?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT £17 much better price that i paid for the concrete repair post i bought from wickes a few years ago (think i paid £45 each) and i had to knock out half the concrete as they didn't dog leg but they did work and the fence is still up i do wonder if the spike is stronge enough to hold up a heavy fence
  20. do you have a larger false acacia in your garden ? if so there likely sprouting from the root system of that tree ! you wouldn't normally see these as you would be cutting them off when you cut the grass as your not cutting they continue to grow
  21. I am also interested in Why CS32? are the gardens you do huge? i'm not saying don't do the course but from my experience your climbing tickets CS38 CS39 would serve you better than the odd few trees you are able to straight fell of that size .
