  1. yeap i believe this is the case...... so therefore it is not a reasonable request on a side note sounds like a crap company who try's not to pay sick pay based on there negligence.
  2. you would be shocked how some hung up trees just won't come down ! even when hung up in much small trees. posting some pic would be good
  3. have a look at the masport there quite heavy but i have had one 7-8 years no gear box, has belt drive from engine to electic motor that drives a chain on the rear roller not had any major work done to it all bits and pieces has been used upto 5 days a week in this period so lots of hours of use the price is lower than other brands by hundreds of pounds but is still pretty robust , the simpler the machine the less it has to go wrong with it , but as soon as you put a roller on it it's going to be more expensive from original cost to the repairs and at 1 day a week it's only going to be working about 30hours a month ,10 months tops a year 300 hours in a year at most thats like 2 months work for a real gardener so you can see how long it's going to last
  4. depends on how much you pay for them but they are a minefield,a friend of mine bought a lawnflite 21 in deck less than a year old (roller ) it was a ex man utd machine and had only been used to pick up the small sods after each match so 1-2 hours a week he had been running it less than a season when the bearings in the roller went going to cost him £200 plus so you take your chances (think he paid £400-£500 in the first place) do you have to leave a stripe ? (roller ) or will a 4 wheel mower do ? will it be used all week, once a week etc etc
  5. you don't need to do that ,honda for quite sometime have been turning there engines down to be in line with noise levels etc just adjust the throttle screw so it is higher revs this creates more electricity to the drive motor and it goes faster i've done this on a mulch/side chute Izy because the drive was so slow, I now doubt that anyone can move as fast as it without running but there's a warning don't over rev it you'll could blow the engine
  6. the honda izy is a base model starting from £250 - about £600 other honda's are expensive when you put a roller on them
  7. well there's several questions to ask before really recommending one what type of work is it going to do ? how much do you want to spend ? but for me and for durability alone i would go for a honda izy(had mine for 12 years still working to a good standard ) it's a 4 wheel model and very little to go wrong with it, easy and cheap to repair i have even had my deck welded as it's a steel deck (that was about 5 years ago ) no idea how many hours but it's defo in the 1000s problem with all 4 wheeled mowers is that they leave tram lines on wet lawns so you shouldn't mow the same way all the time the only way round this is to run 2 mowers one with a roller and the Izy and us each mower in whatever leaves the best finish but this is more expensive what i also did was buy the mulch plug for it this also gave it an extra blade on it making it a better mower it basically goes through anything (within reason )
  8. what type ??? are you a pastry top or a icing sugar top ? i have to say i always love a icing sugar mince pie but if the pastry is good there far better !
  9. i have a stihl 181 which I've had for years done a lot of work with it on small stuff and before i could afford a top handle used it in the tree as it's dead light plus it can have a 16inch bar on (when i used it in the tree i had a 12 inch bar on it) as long as your chain is sharp it will even go through 16inch oak, a bit slow but will do it i still use it as my other ground saw is a 391 which is a bit over kill for some jobs plus its 3-4 times heavier
  10. so the advice we should be giving him is to get someone in that does ! get to know someone in the trade in your location get to know a climber as generally garden trees have a lot of targets (for the OP things in the way fence, shed, house, paving, decking, swings, trampolines etc etc) they can then tell you whats involved alternatively if you don't know anyone and you feel the job is beyond you back out now rather than doing something and it all going wrong
  11. hi did the speed awareness course a few year ago myself and i was shocked i'd been speeding for years without knowing ! from what i read in the highway code (which is basically law ) that it was all based on weight basically anything over 2t was not allowed to do over 50 on a national speed limit single carriage rd i spoke to the guys there and they confirmed it it had nothing to do with commercial vehicles ( might of missed something in one of the posts as i only skimmed over them ) I even said when did that change and he laughed and said actually it's always been there
  12. I accept you are correct , my English is woeful ( and i'm English)
  13. no i'm right and your wrong what it makes you is a person who doesn't except that there wrong! whats your word for that ?
  14. nope not pedantic it's basic maths i can count you can't
  15. funniest thing i found was in the year 2000 all churches where advertising it as the 2000 year since christ was born and i mean all ,not 1 person in all christian faiths did 1 second of research
  16. you believe wrong 2013 years as there's no year zero it went from 1 BCE to 1 AD
  17. should be doing this unless it's off the ground anyway plus the fact he doesn't sharpen suggests he has no quals so i blame the teacher for how he uses the saws if he has the quals he needs sacking for not sharpening and misusing saws it's pretty basic for what we all do but people do make basic mistakes from time to time but if it is all the time ........ why would you have high hopes for him he sounds like a muppet
  18. yeah but this guy has no trolley at all he isn't dealing with 500kg pieces on a regular basis if he was hell i don't know what he's doing !!!(can't hand ball that) i was giving him a genuine alternative (i looked it up 200k is the limit ) putting a bit of 3x2 too extend the sides and hey free trolley
  19. Get yourself a garden centre trolley i found one in a wood (so cost nothing ) I've put at least 100-150kg in it ! For it's cost (did i say i found it? ) it's ACE!!
  20. http://www.sasproducts.com/heavy-duty-security-barrier-post-173-p.asp I have one of these the trailer is basically blocked behind it trailer has been safe behind that for over 2 years i also put a hitch lock on and wheel clamp the barrier post is actually heavy duty i highly recommend it
  21. Trust an ex builder too know that ! Hey pete how go's it i was on the climbing course with you at myerscough tall guy with no teeth (had them fixed now )
  22. your problem sounds like the same trouble i was having and it was the brake cable sticking intermittently so was difficult to diagnose but we found a way to test it was to strip the wheel we thought was the issue (mine was a 4 wheel 2.7 t ifor williams) leaving the braking mech together and using the hand brake fully on to see what was the problem i have new cables now there not to expensive and you do have to replace them if there sticking as freeing them up doesn't work you maybe able to free them for a short period but they will stick again quite quickly
  23. thanks guys that's great ! the thing is in the original application it asked for 30% crown thinning and came back as 25% crown lift for the sycamore so got permission for something different lol i'm going to try to sort this out with planning as mentioned but any other comment or info you guys /girls have for me would be wonderful .
