  1. Don't really see the importance of this to the man on the street, I mean its not as if many read or believed the specs anyway. No doubt the thieving lawyers will wring them dry to line their own pockets. There must be some other manufacturers sweating right now though.
  2. Oh really? How so? Ours was bought already fitted so can't comment but seems well made, light but strong.
  3. Ours was built by Tippa but don't know if they're still going. Just looked & they're now called Tippa/TGS at Bristol.
  4. Ours was built by Tippa but don't know if they're still going.
  5. 5 speed. It's done 120k miles so don't mind spending sensible money to keep it going.
  6. Thanks. Called Mr Clutch again & they confirmed a solid flywheel/clutch assembly will be more HD than the original. We await a price but they do guarantee them for 2 yrs/20k miles.
  7. Ok so not really an 'arb truck' but I know loads here use Transit tippers. I've been asking around re a heavy duty clutch as ours is starting to smell when asking too much of it. Local Mr Clutch couldn't tell me but surely if an HD was available they'd be fitted from the off. Btw Mr Clutch said £350 for complete job which sounded reasonable so long as we don't them every week. Any views/experiences from others welcome.
  8. Hi, anyone going to this in Halland, E Sussex? Went last year & it was a good, full day out.
  9. Mods please move this if not appropriate here. I've 6 new drive belts for a GM's CS100 which are surplus as I sold the machine. Don't want much for them...maybe £20 & I'll post them.
  10. Good for you. Friend of mine was driving her lease car across a busy, single lane bridge as she had priority. A van came at speed from the opposite direction. By now she was over half way when they met nose to nose with him arguing & getting abusive. After a few seconds traffic built up behind both as she'd switched off her engine, locked up & calmly showed the van driver her keys as she smiled & dropped them in the river, then walked off home. Foolish, irresponsible...oh yes, but how satisfying eh? She was still chuckling when she heard the radio announcement later on local radio.
  11. Heard from someone who works railside in Kent. He says they (gang of four inc safety man) spend most days felling on average, 3 small trees between them during a full shift. No chipping just smash them down & make safe. Money is reasonable but he's having trouble sleeping during the 90 minute lunch stop:blushing:....boring or what? Is this normal, anyone else done it?
  12. Poaching like that stinks. We do the checks online or by phone & if a TPO/CA applies, won't tell the council until a quote is accepted. Been ok so far.
  13. We've been asked to work on numerous trees in the Dordogne area. It involves felling, topping etc within a sizeable bit of private land surrounding a holiday/second home, owned by the customer. I wondered what the situation is with permissions etc as I heard one had to sleep with the mayor to get anything approved. Any knowledge/experiences welcome as I've noticed several of you live/work there.
  14. I'm sure its a great place but we only stayed one night of a planned 14 days. :001_rolleyes:We booked into the a good hotel, had a good dinner we went for an evening walk where all I said was "Isn't it strange why we come all this way when all we need is at home (friends, shooting, motorbike, cycle, ski-boat etc). Well that was it. I wasn't spoken to until next morning when I found she'd packed our bags & cancelled the hol. The taxi arrived taking us back to the airport where she paid about £200 extra to have an earlier flight home. Wished I'd had the balls to stay alone, would've had a great time:thumbup:...at least until I got home. As has been said, loads of history & v pro British.
  15. Another vote for ply, 12mm I think, undercoated then gloss blacked & zip tied inside the mesh works on our 8x4. It extends a foot above the mesh on 3 sides so greedy board too.
  16. Blimey, that brings back happy (RCT) memories. Seem to recall it'd do just over 28mph if you knocked it outta gear going downhill...scary with a 10 ton load.
  17. Yes, thats who I'm dealing with. Came next day, unfortunately:001_rolleyes: it was for the later model Transit, which changed mid '06, so I await the right one...
  18. No phone lines so far but cut a CATV cable while stump grinding. Made worse as one of the lads was showing the customer what trees were available online on the customer's pc at the exact moment. Lol, she still tipped though. It was a free fix by Virgin as it was wrongly routed diagonally across her garden.
  19. Once it comes I'll let you know.
  20. Found a place that makes the bracket for £200 but hadn't thought of the implications of ins. I'll speak to them (& MOT fella). Thanks
  21. As above...I reckon it'd greatly assist me instead of reversing the chipper up an awkward driveway. Anyone tried fitting one to an '05 Transit?
  22. Can't help you myself but someone told me the other day, about a documentary they'd seen showing how stumps used to be removed, which got me thinking I'd like to try it. The stump was dry before he put a drop of petrol on then covered it with a small (road cone size) homemade steel cone, vented at the top & left it for a day or so. Hey presto (whatever that means) after a couple of days... nowt left. Might be worth a go if theres no kids about?
  23. Rain here. Came home to find the heating on too.
  24. As the tone is already lowered....Mate of mine told me how when he was in army on exercise in the snow in Germany when they were given a new 2nd Lt. Rupert took his shovel & paper, did his business behind a hedge only for mate John to catch it, unseen, with another shovel. John said his face was a picture when he looked down after, knowing he'd been but nothing there.
