1. Evening all. Been trying to find the answer elsewhere, online etc without success so just wondered if anyone here might know... If a disabled badge holder chooses not to park their car in the empty, designated/marked disabled bay in the road or public car park but instead parks in the only other empty space, which is for anyone, able bodied...does he commit an offence? Reason I ask is several elderly residents here are being denied parking by an arrogant & disabled lad who often parks as above in order to wind them up, which seems to be working. Being the 'youngster' at 63, no laughing at the back, they've asked me to find out. Petty...yeah mebbe.
2. Poppy, at recent PL/EL insurance renewal time I was told by our broker that as we didn't use 'outside' staff, only immediate family members, we didn't need EL. Apparently there is a specific exemption for this. PL (inc theft) advisable but I wouldn't be without it. Handy to be able to show potential customers & our commercial clients rightly insist on it.
3. Jordan does some great carvings. Call him on 07713 029518 & he'll show you his portfolio. Lives within 5 miles too.
4.

Hey Treemoose.

Re the leylandii stems to be carved. Can I give your details (phone no & name) to our son who does a bit of carving & is v local to Wrotham? Has some pics on facebook under Jordan Day if you want to have a a look.

Regards...Les Day

5. Ah, ok thanks for that. Walk away it is then.
6. Had a price accepted to take some some trees between which grows a heap of JK. Told the (traveller) customer that we'd follow LA advice & not use chipper or remove any logs/arisings. Now been cancelled as someone has offered to remove all. Really not bothered re losing the job but wondered if I ought to take it further as I wouldn't like to think of an innocent farmer/wood processor getting his pile/logs infected.
7. We used Ancestory DNA too, cost about £70 each. Opens up a new world of Xmas pressies.
8. Just discovered (thru dna) that we're both solid descendants of Scandiavians so I thought, being part Norse best I get a throwing ax. Anyone on here do this? Any advice re a first ax?
9. 31 degrees today & was tempted to get into shorts for groundwork. Was talked out of it by no 1 son as it was a domestic job & wouldn't look good as well as a bit foolish....
10. No? But money that could be spent elsewhere surely.
11. Thought I'd be helpful & return 2 pairs of ally crutches we seem to have collected. One pair never used, still in plastic wrap inc instructions for use, the other pair had minimal use, so really no wear whatsover. Nice woman at local A & E said 'Please take them home or just bin/scrap them'. Apparently someone (greedy ambulance chasing money grabbing lawyer?) recently sued NHS after falling on newly issued crutches which, tsk tsk...had been used before. This must be costing the NHS blooming thousands if its a national directive. Couldn't see them binned so they're back in the cellar.
12. Looks like eyes open for a 'cheap' back up then...thanks all.
13. By commercial dumping do you mean signwritten vehicles & those vans/pickups classed as commercial? If so your lucky, its been around here for as long as I can recall.
14. Wood aplenty down south maybe...not enough drinking water/reservoirs though. Just saying.
15. Just wondering if anyone has a contingency plan should the chipper go pop. If say, the bearings went, or worse & its out of use for a week or so, what do others do, lump it or get one on demo. Guessing no insurer would cover this risk?
16. Like others have said, glad you & gf walked away. Otherwise an interesting & informative thread, thanks for sharing Joe.
17. You're right Steve. No offence was meant...just banter.
18. Bugger the tats, the ginger hair would put me off! Ha ha (couldn't find the winker)
19. Tats aren't for me...but I'd try not to let them affect any decisions I had to make. Might be difficult being 63, growing up when they were mostly for jailbirds & matelots. Obviously things have changed dramatically but maybe I haven't.
20. Take it you've checked for air hose leaks?
21. Would've thought most on here have the waste permit. I got pulled a couple of months ago & asked to produce it within a week, so I did...end of story. There was some discussion whereby some thought arb chippings weren't 'waste'. Couldn't be bothered myself, to test this in court. Sorry for the derail... back to piccys.
22. Evening all. Its getting a bit tiresome having to empty the small steel box of fine dust. Its on the left as you look at the machine from behind, beside the hydraulic valves but I keep forgetting to ask GM the purpose. Got so bad the other day it pressed the large plastic side cover right out. I'm sure theres logic but...anyone??
