    Hitch lock

Baby alarm/monitor with the 'parent' end in the bedroom wakes me the moment theres any sound from the garage.
  2. No cos we maintain the local trees so they won't fall. Did put a saw in the boot though.
  3. We've been asked to price a 400 mtrs hedge reduction from its current 10mtrs height to 1.8mtrs. Its mostly hawthorn but a mixed hedge. Thing is...every few metres the stems are a foot in dia & it so we thought a tractor/flail might handle most of it between those stems. How would others approach this? Sorry to derail but I've no experience of flails. Local tractor/flail hire with operator is around £250-£350 per day but I thought flails could only deal with say 3" dia?
  4. Also have a mk6/'56 with just 90hp, been a proper workhorse but with 120k its getting a bit tatty outside. Good ally arb body though which I'm hoping will fit a mk7? When the time comes.
  5. Really good that. Especially like how you did the fur.
  6. Mmm...they're called bootfairs now aren't they?
  7. Welcome Kermeister. This place is full of good advice but I'll mine two penneth anyway...carry spare drive belts & some spanners.
  8. Took down a mature (30yr old) one, among others today & was told by a a passer-by that it was sought after for decorative inlays. Anyone confirm this please.
  9. Of the dozen or so vehicles that arrived nearly a week ago, there are 5/6 Transits marked up as 'Tree surgeons'...with mob nos only of course. We've noticed some strangely butchered trees of late which we've found are down to these clowns. Just don't understand why anyone allows them in but then we're not (quite) a vulnerable old couple. One neighbour reckons he heard bangs like gunshots a couple of nights ago but...they're still in the park, rubbish and all.
  10. Now the suns out so the windows are open.
  11. Yup, fires going here in Kent even though its not that cold, we just like the smell & atmosphere it creates:thumbup1:. Oh yeah, the heat is ok too. Just me or does it dry your eyes? We found putting a vase/bowl of water out helps.
  12. Within hours of their arrival in our local park today, 'tree surgeons' are touting door to door. Chickens, dogs & kids running everywhere, music up high & generally ticking everyone off. Hope they clear off soon & take their mess with them. Wouldn't normally post such trivia...but then Strictly is on.
  13. They're on both boats. My guess is they can be swung down to keep it level when beached or to act as a keel when sailing into the wind.
  14. I found it useful to check launch sites at low tide, found plenty of hidden lumps of concrete at 'out of the way' slipways.
  15. Had several small trailable boats, a 14' dory being the first which was just for inshore fun on calm sunny days when the kids were younger, so no real risk. Operator tickets..no such thing for a private (non-commercial) boat although some councils, where there is a public slipway, have insisted on seeing ins before use. Insurance was only covered by that of the towing veh, so long as attached. Guess its advisable to have separate cover for when afloat but I never did. Enjoy it, I did.
  16. Bear-grape...your avatar does my eyes in!
  17. Can't really give an answer but I doubt that it could be done without heat. Kinda hard to apply the type of pressure needed to flatten it without it springing back?
  18. Having usually done & showered by 3pm, I often sit in the front room while using the pc, watching the commuters in suits (yes ok, I watch the women too:001_rolleyes:) coming off the trains 'til about 8pm. Rat race or what, I know they almost certainly make more money than me but I'm glad not to have to put up with that nonsense.
  19. Theres one disabled space specifically for him outside his house, although I guess if it was empty any disabled person could use it. The other 3 spaces are for the able bodied residents but he chooses not to use the disabled bay, leaving the old folks to walk much further to their cars. He's not the visual epitome of a disabled person as he looks fine to me, although I know you can't always see the problem. He's the only 'disabled' person here for miles. Anyway...rant over.
  20. Thats been tried but he must have a tame doctor.
  21. Had to make a choke return spring on ours as it'd otherwise choke when it was hot. Almost sounds like the reverse of your problem. Theres plenty on here got one so someone will be able to help.
