  1. Still going with my round not done any for about 10 days though. Not too wet here so I think I will go out later in week and do a few
  2. Here is another way of looking at it. Should dealers only sell to those who are local to them? Because if you will do internet sales then why should you put someone to the back of the line for repairs if they bring to you for repairs having bought online?

Another thought I'd try and speak to your dad about expanding your role or even his business so you could play a part in it more. Then maybe come to a better pay structure?

Sorry being flippant😀(wish I had £50k) but spent more than that over the years and keep spending👎 It's hard to make a living in this world. I do think you need your own business or be a doctor/ banker to make any real money

Spend about £50k on kit. Pack in working for your dad and go it alone..….…… The grass is not always greener. Sometimes less is more.
  6. Unless you mean paying less as I did before. It did not work that's why I won't pay less now
  7. No but still at college 3 days a week. I tried other lads paying them less and they were all useless! I would not pay less than that anyway as its not in my interest to have someone working and not paying attention to detail. Like anything you get what you pay for.
  8. I pay my lad £50 for a 7 hour day. To me he's worth it as I can leave him to get on with it and do other things
  9. I agree with that. You will get far more from them if you pay them something worth having!
  10. Pay someone £2 an hour and see what you get! I'm not talking big money but people need to put a roof over their heads. However just looked it up and for a 21 year old it's £6.70.
  11. If you want someone good you you need to pay them a decent wage. Minimum apprentice wage will get you an idiot most likely
  12. FR Jones has 30% off stihl pro saws I think. Did not click on link to see what there was. Bought a mower for a good price though😀 Edit just looked at the link some good deals. But you've got to pick up presumably as will fall under stihl online policy
  13. I found the l200 a pain when towing as when pulling out from a t junction you had to change up half way round the turn which is a pain on busy roads
  14. That's impressive I bet it munches it's way through most things!
  15. My dad must be lucky as he gets about 30-40 ton a year free which he tops the farmyard/ roads/drags through the farm sheds etc. It all come around this time of year as they seem to do the roads near him about now and it's miles to nearest tip site!
  16. I did think about it and it would probably work as it was not any thicker than my fingers. But not having much confidence about doing it in the first place I thought slow was best
  17. I can see where your coming from with that I'm lucky to have quite a few customers where money is not the consideration. He also has too much time and not enough fitness!
  18. Just because he wanted it doing. No idea really he/they are getting old and more fussy as they get older. I've cut the grass for years and they've got stranger over time. Nice folks though. And better than just leaving it
  19. He who pays the bill gets to choose I suppose😀 The guy is happy that's the main thing. Happy Christmas everyone😀
  20. I try to buy local but only today managed to get a really good deal on a mower from Jones £300 cheaper than local place. £50 I don't mind but £300 I know where my money is going! It was in the clearance sale though.
  21. Sorry probably obvious to you people that work in the woods😡
  22. Found a link for you to his website Except I don't know how to add it!! ben-law.co.uk
  23. I seem to remember a guy on grand designs managing to build a house from timber from his woods. It took a long time to get permission and heavy restrictions/covenants on property when built. It was a good programme. He literally built a lovely house using the timber from the woods using traditional methods.
