  1. What part of the government won’t allow companies to use in house fitters? Unless you are on a some kind of bonus scheme that can be stopped if you break something until it’s paid back he can’t make you pay for it from your main wages. That’s got employment tribunal written all over it It would have to be part of the written contract too.
  2. Yes I get that. It was aimed more at the “its too big” comment. Some of the young lads drive the big quad tracks like lunatics round here. You really don’t want to get in the way of one of those! I think they should have a pick up or something in front down these narrow lanes like they do with the combines on main roads but that cost time and money
  3. Not defending idiot driving in these huge tractor trailer set ups these days. But how else are the farmers supposed to get stuff from field to Yard?
  4. Do as much as you can with ride on mower. Get Honda engine mowers as they have been the most efficient walk behinds I’ve used. If you’ve got a large geographical area then aside from changing van there’s not much to be done on that side apart from only taking what you need, but that doesn’t make much difference. 21mpg is horribly bad though even my pickup will do 27 towing mower
  5. I first saw this on the app with no picture. Still would not fancy it much, but better than hundreds of meters of conifers
  6. Can’t think of anything worse myself!! Good luck
  7. I do understand all that it just seemed like a big percentage drop over a couple of years. Fairly steady then a big drop.
  8. It is too many not getting home. I looked those stats up just now and the first few of those years it was fairly steady then dropped off massively which is obviously good. Does make me wonder why? What changed?
  9. Half the problem is they think they are indestructible when young and in a big tractor they pretty much are! It’s the poor sods they hit that are in trouble. I helped a farmer last week who had helped me out a year or so back tidy up about a quarter tonne of beans that had spilled onto the road because the young lad driving had stamped that hard on the brakes that the beans slid into the front of trailer and out over the top. Probably too many in there but the lad has managed it 3 times in 2 weeks apparently!
  10. I did go in today and they had neither the battery or the hedge cutters in stock to look at sorry
  11. My bg86 started getting hard to turn over and then just stopped! It was the top spring in the recoil the bottom spring was ok
  12. I’m going to a dealer today for an air filter. If they have one I’ll have a look.
  13. So from these replies to my question, it seems that trees have to be allowed to grow as big as possible no matter where they are?
  14. Serious question as I really don’t know. What’s the difference between a crown lift and topping? Surely they both take stuff off the top? I think it’s good saving trees from looking like they have been chopped in half if possible as they look better. I’ve had people ask me to chop small trees down because they don’t want to pay someone the going rate to prune them properly to look good in the place they are in
  15. All that’s lovely and true no doubt. I wonder how many trees it saves though? Some people will decide that they want THEIR tree topping if that option were took off the table how many will get removed instead? No doubt if they ring the right person they may be pushed in the right direction but they may not ring the right person and even if they do they might still want it topped no matter what is said to them. On my very basic understanding of it unless it has a tpo or in a conservation area there is nothing to stop this happening?
  16. I wouldn’t know about that I cut grass for a living! I’m sure you are right but it’s not the point. You can’t change what others do or charge so do your own thing and leave them to it
  17. I’m presuming the tree is smaller than when they started?.....
  18. I think it must be “free” wood to him. I don’t see how you could buy some chop it up store it then deliver it for those prices
  19. Just seen this advert. Seems cheap to me or am I missing something?
  20. Where is red at 38 p at the minute? I bought some last week at 47p for 2000 litres
  21. The EU is different as it’s no longer what those who voted for economic ties voted for. And it’s not a federal superstate which is what they seem to be aiming for.IMO. scotland as a whole obviously thought they were better off in the uk not out. who knows how the result would have turned out if it was uk wide?
  22. Yes because we are a United Kingdom. We all should have been given the vote.
  23. That jet fit looks like mine. It’s the pro 4 line one with the black cone removed. With just 2 lines on it. 4 line would be too much for a 90. Not to say don’t buy one as it will last ages so would fit another bigger strimmer should you ever get one Don’t go lower than 3mm on the jet fit otherwise you will be changing all the time. Plus leave a decent tail like on the pictures above. It’s a proper pain if you forget and have to try and get it out!
  24. The 90 will struggle to run 4mm last me I would think. I ran some 4mm on an 85 and it was rubbish. Maybe try some stihl square line at 3mm you can get that to fit the head too
