    I guess it depends what you are happy with. I would not use my truck for someone else for 45p a mile (a one off is different) besides if they need another vehicle full time they should just buy one if they think that they can run one on 45p then they should run it themselves. Not wanting to sound like a lefty but if you work for someone full time they should provide everything all you should do is turn up on time and do a good job Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    For me it's not about covering costs it's about the value it adds to the business. You can't buy and run a truck for 45p a mile. Why should the op subsidise his "employers" business? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    Pieces of conveyor belt type material works well stopping stuff. I've got a really thick piece in front of the oil sump on the mowers to stop stones punching a hole in it! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    Agreed he is highly paid (too much on balance) but there is 3 of them on that plus the head on 100k plus. My point is more that £75k or thereabouts is not a huge amount to be earning for running the country. To be honest I was surprised how much he and the others are on as it's £25k or so more than the next level down. Don't know where you found your average from though figures I've just found come out at £55k that's the first google result anyway. Re.     Except it hasn't as he is on£77k big school mind. I was not talking averages. Besides £74k isn't enough to attract any one that's half decent. The main reason people can afford to do it is they already have money and they are on some personal mission Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    MPs well paid? The deputy head teacher at my wife's school earns more for not running a school yet you think MPs are well paid to run the country. Maybe if it did pay well we would get some decent MPs Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    Maybe but I was talking about this with my dad not long ago. He reckoned he got back all he paid in in about 5 years. He does not need it all it does is go towards whatever car lease he chooses every 2 years. Wrong? maybe when others are choosing between heating and eating. That's not his fault though is it.     I'd agree with that especially the benefits of the public sector. Take my wife's job as a teacher. money is reasonably good she could earn more doing something else in the private sector as she has the qualifications. But she gets 13 weeks a year holiday. Good sick pay (6 months full 6 months half) and a reasonable pension. Though they did move the goalposts on that so she is not getting what she signed up for (at least some of it anyway as they have managed somehow to split it with some on the old deal and some on the new deal) She could be earning double salary but without the other benefits now.     Hung parliaments can't be a good outcome for anyone as nothing will get done. Like in America Obama being president but not being able to push stuff through because the other side could block its path. The same for trump too. If the "winner" can't get what they promised voters done they are not really winners at all Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
