    I'd rather we spent imaginary money on trident than benefit street. We find plenty for that too. Not sure on figures but is trident supposed to be £30 billion? To last 30 years? If so it's a drop in an ocean compared to the welfare state. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    The trend may we'll be going up but have they proved it would not have happened anyway? I should add that I'm not against renewable energy etc and we could well be adding to the problem by burning stuff but are we to blame for all of it? I'm not convinced if I'm honest.     No I'm saying they they want and will get in most cases the big profits regardless. If people are out of work we end up picking all the slack up not just topping it up.     I said the same thing a few pages back. All the rise will do is make inflation rise too. It's got to be better that people are in work so the government(us) only have to top them up rather than pay for everything? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    It's quite simple businesses are going to either cut staff or cut hours if they are forced to pay higher rates. Either that or put prices up putting inflation up making the higher rate pointless as they will be no better off than before.     I was talking about from £10 to £12.50 being 25% But either way it's too big a jump and means that everyone currently on for example £10 an hour wants £13.30 so that they have the benefit of the same rise. In theory it could also push a small business into VAT threshold which would then add another 20% to the bill for the consumer that can't reclaim Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    If everything else went up to pay this new minimum wage except your business you would either start losing money or go broke. People on minimum wage now are no better off than when it first came in. It's still not really enough but prices have a tendency to move to what people can afford (or not as the case may be) In my opinion a higher minimum will simply have the effect of raising prices across the board. Maybe that's what labour want so that the debt becomes less through inflation? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    Ok fair enough not looked at mutleys post. I still can't work out why people care how much anyone else earns? It's not relevant in my opinion as each of us should be self sufficient as much as possible. Paying our bit and living out our lives.     I don't know how true that chart on the last page is but it does not show debt tripling since 2010 Also if they had kept labours spending up how many times would the debt how gone up by now? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    That along with paying for labours commitments and bailing the banks (and clearing houses that managed to change garbage loans into grade a ones somehow)that had little to no supervision from the government (read labour but the conservatives get some blame here too) And you have a massive problem inherited Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    I think you do talk some sense but this is bonkers. If I spend too much and then can't pay my mortgage for example soon I will be homeless. Spending billions when we have not paid for the last lot of billions that labour spent would be beyond stupid. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    Not bad at all. I would be changing the web address though as typing countrysidetreeand gardenseevices.co.uk without making a mistake is difficult on a phone for anyone with fat fingers like me. Edit I got it wrong even when trying hard! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
