  1. Yes BUT few, if any, are as inspirational as this one, this is one i always check out for a dose of Positivity, Thanks Silkyfox!
  2. id like to know the reasons they couldn't open the third lane to let the traffic through once fire out? my wife sat for 3 hours in this just before lunch with a very active young whippersnapper on board...neither had lunch and both needed loo.. no food on board etc guess its a case of HSE making a meal of it...
  3. Diesel Linde's last for ever. had a few over the last 30 years and rate them
  4. ive bought this tsuff before. my comment was yes it ws lovely and dry but left a weird ash behind- loads of the stuff. never seen anything like it.. not saying its all like it but it put me and few of us that used it off. now I'm back on my own Oak, yes its a tad damp but hey cant beat it.. that lovely smokey fog that hangs around the house these damp mornings:thumbup:
  5. Nice one, always prefer Honda's but in this instance the 3.0KW Hyundai is silly money and good dealer backup so we'll see how it performs. Never seen so many Generators in the last week or so up here...someone said theres at least 70 big beasties littering the streets of Lancaster! (500KVA etc..) we ran a 6KVA Pramac with honda engine non stop for a few days, never missed a beat and the very Honda suitcase as you have to power some UPS's till the big diesel genny arrived.
  6. What did you plump for in the Eggs? i'm veering towards Hyundai 3KW at the moment.
  7. Thats niiice! Big fan of Claas!!
  8. Appears they found a body Jon... terrible. I was in Kendal helping on Saturday Night never seen anything like it. poor chap wouldnt have had a chance in the river.. Old Amarok performed well! got us safely home through worst weather Ive ever driven in.. thoughts are with all the poor folk flooded out.
  9. My Two pennyworth: Ive an obsession with the things, or just the fact i live in the dark. I wore the a ledlenser H14 for 4 hours or so last night swapping over to generators up here. But my favorite and bomproof ,chuck it about, is the Petzl Pixa 3 and you can clip it onto the Vertex helmets with a plate, really rate it.(But our kid had nicked it..) (H14 brighter though but just doesn't feel as tough as the petzl) The Petzl Myo is also very good and lives in my hillwalking bag, really lightweight. My next purchase is the Led Lenser XEO19R (shes been asking questions though..as to why ive 5 headtorches..?):blushing: and finally if anyones after one of the best 240V worklights on the planet check this out:https://www.festool.co.uk/Products/Pages/Product-Detail.aspx?pid=769965&name=DUO-working-light-DUO-Plus-GB-240V had one last night ! Truly outstanding bit of kit but at a price!
  10. I predict we will see a lot of threads in this Vein.. A lot of folks pretty cheesed of with LR for dropping defender and no replacement till 2018 at earliest. Even Mountain Rescue round here are starting to use the Converted Hi-lUx's. Like you say Defenders are great fun but not moved on and everyone else is catching up fast. I tried to pre-order the "new" one (Dc100 etc) and got told not possible have no info etc:001_rolleyes:
  11. GP1600 Hand Winch with Wire Rope Just bought one of these. Good service and proper kit!
  12. wow thats mad! was there earlier in the year and it didnt look like that! quiet a big "beach" normally.
  13. Arbtalk at its finest:biggrin: one of the best threads yet!
  14. a few valid points but with RHI dropped and likely to drop further it does as my old boss would say "need a coat of looking at" . But as plogs says logs R best and with oil this cheap (i know it can rise but word is it aint going anywhere in a hurry) im sticking with if it aint broke dont fix it...for now.
  15. i knew i shouldnt let her order... standing order so i'll let her off...
  16. Very cheap I'll agree, Ive been looking at all sorts of options this year but when oil's only 37.8 PL makes you think can i be bothered...and like you say the stoves earning its keep..
  17. Thanks luftwaffe Not everyday you get a Kesla in the field! and big old Magnum! what a beast! Swallowing Pops for fun!
  18. Might be worth looking into this as Myerscough College up our way do a Saturday "landowner" type 1 day course that is aimed keeping all your arms and legs attached rather than providing qualifications.
  19. Know any one in the RAF? A Sea king and winch man would do the trick nicely! (Words of wisdom from Spud as usual! The wealth of knowledge on Arbtalk never ceases to amaze, this thread is a cracking example....)
  20. This was in the field last night, after a Pop pulling session. Nice old Beut still working hard. (I know who's it is but I'll let them speak up if they're on here)
  21. Smack on Skyhuck. this is where i reckon my place was on the limits for size hence they pulled the plug. I Didn't loose anything so no big deal but was interesting to look into.
  22. Update on this. We got a letter confirming our deposit had been refunded after a long wait. Apparently new Legislation has made it very difficult for them to complete all the paperwork etc etc.. I suspect our property was on the boundaries so was to risky for them. I'll KIT if anything else crops up. Shame as it did appear a pretty good deal.
