  1. Has this machine had a new ignition unit? the early machine had a three magnet flywheel and a aphelion ignition unit the later machine had a two magnet flywheel and if my memory serves had a Waldron ignition unit, needless to say you cannot mix and match as the ignition timing I’d completely different. The aphelion unit was round and the Waldron was rectangular.

    XP550

Chain drive links sitting between the rim and the drum rather than in the rim itself possibly, brake band broken and rubbing on the drum, bit worrying about the smoke coming from that area, it should be fairly easy after the side cover is removed to see what has been getting hot.
  3. No stinger on the end?
  4. Unfortunately there are no set torque figures for the nuts, however the securing nuts and bolts pull up solid due to the spacer blocks between the blades, so just tight.
  5. Farmertec is a cheap Chinese copy of the 365, so the least of your issues will be an open muffler, your money would be better spent on something else.
  6. New file and the Husqvarna combi gauge and 5 minutes Tuition on the correct use of it as the instructions that come with it are useless.
  7. The 226hs was a badged engineered machine, I believe from Zenoah, the blades are not adjustable, so they have small square spacer blocks to stop the blades jamming when the fixing bolts are fully tightened, due to this the square blocks, securing screws or blades can wear allowing sideways movement of the blades, there will always be an amount of side movement due to tolerance, as for sharpening all good advise from other members, if you chose to remove the blades to sharpen do not lose any of the square blocks, and make sure they are all aligned when re assembly, or the blades will clamp together and not move.
  8. The 135 has a governed ignition unit, so if you lean the mixture too much they do sound very strange at full revs when they hit the governor, I tend to screw the H jet in until they just hit the governor, then a further 10th of a turn and leave it, they can suffer with the impulse collapsing, this is part of an assembly screwed to the inlet side of the cylinder, they also do have ignition unit issues, I have replaced plenty.
  9. The orange frame filter is down to 25 micron, even though it may look clean they block very easily, auto tune then leans the mixture to compensate increasing heat, there is a kit to update to the mark11 air filter.
  10. Is this an early 560? Is the fuel tank breather fed via a tube into the air filter housing? Is the fuel hose clipped into the cylinder partition wall, do you have the additional slot in the top cover, these things were issues on the early saws, do you have the orange frame air filter? If you have any of the above we can advise how to update them.
  11. A couple of things here, the throttle shaft on the l/h side of the carb has two very small magnets pressed into a white bracket, as the throttle is opened these pass the auto tune unit telling it its revving up, if one of the magnets have come out you will get something like this, if they are there then this is an ignition coil issue.
  12. That is not the brake doing that, either you have a knackered chain rim or a miss match of rim and chain, does it have a rim sprocket or spur sprocket? if rim is the chain running in the rim or running on the back of it. these saws I have seen on .325 and 3/8 chain so back to miss match of chain too sprocket.
  13. The brake is loaded, so the hand guard will fall back to the neutral position, all you are doing that i can see is pulling the hand guard back to the loading position again, lets see a video of you pushing the hand guard forward to engage the brake.
  14. No you can pull the breather out with the tank still connected, don’t grip the end too tight our it will break off and make harder to remove, if it should break screw a self tapping screw into it and pull it out.
  15. The breather will just pull out and can be replaced fairly easily if it is leaking, there is no need to put anything onto the end of the breather just leave it open.
  16. I am guessing this is an older 560, the breather hose for the fuel tank was fed into the air filter elbow, this was for emission reasons, however fuel vapour can be fed into the filter elbow making hot starting difficult, some time ago the rubber tube was removed from the breather and the pipe cut and blanked off with a plastic plug, so this is what you need to do, the white tank breather is then open to atmosphere.
  17. I have read this post from start to finish, there has been some good advice, you have contacted the dealer, you have contacted Stihl direct, my best guess is you have been told there is noting wrong with it , so you can either stick it on the shelf as an ornament, or take it out and use it, the APF is coming very soon so if it goes tits up take it to the Stihl stand and vent your anger, maybe there is just nothing wrong with it.
  18. Sorry I am afraid it could be the end of the line for this old machine, the part was made obsolete in 2016, i did check to see if there was any chance, but no.

    540ixp help

There will be nothing wrong with the pump, it is similar to the 346/357 pump, so if the drive gear behind the sprocket is ok, then I would be pretty sure the pipe has kinked, it really does take a tight bend to the bar pad, the securing screws for the motor are behind the sprocket so it will have to com off.

    540ixp help

As much as I hate to say it, but you clamp the sprocket with a pair of grips to slacken the t27 screw, there was some talk of a tool to hold it but that seems to have not materialised, however behind here is only the pump drive gear, to access the pump you need to split the machine and remove the motor, the pump is housed here, the delivery pipe does take a sharp bend and can collapse stopping oil delivery.

  22. I will do the first to visit a few stands.
  23. What has actually happened to it? has one of the con rods let go, or the end of one of the blades broken off?
  24. I have used the correct Husqvarna combi gauge on my own T540i with no real issue, my biggest gripe is you cannot buy a reel of this chain, or any preset tie straps, it is an Oregon chain badge engineered.
