  1. I think I showed you the jigs I had for those springs, a bit redundant now with the claw springs etc.
  2. Only a baby spring on the 136/141 ,the three shoe clutches are a different animal, the same clutch is still used today on the 135, it is the Poulan clutch.
  3. Pretty sure on that vintage of saw there was just the plastic tube pushed in and a aspirin shaped white pellet pressed in ( Vion ) the addition cap and hose was a later fitment.
  4. Put one shoe on the spider with spring, clamp the shoe and spider in the vice ( not to tight as the spider is a sintered material and will snap ) put the second shoe in the spring, then lift some and spring onto the spider just with your fingers not screw drivers, the spring should not come as there should be a big penny washer behind the clutch.
  5. Is that like rubbing two saws together to light a fire?
  6. Frying filters Steve, new one on me.😄
  7. If it’s in the carb then it must be coming from whatever is in the fuel tank, drain the tank fit a new filter( there is a blue top very fine fuel filter available ) a try again.
  8. The reason for the change of part no. Was extra insulation around the wires were they enter the crankcase, there was an issue with them grounding out in this area.
  9. I saw many 345 and 350 shed their mufflers, the later muffler has an additional fixing, so the cylinder gained an additional thread, it was possible to fit the muffler support bracket from the 346xp before the new muffler was introduced, how did you repair the burnt hole in the oil tank? This is an old semi pro saw so you need to think about how much money you throw at it.
  10. There is maybe more parts than you realise to turn one back, good luck with your search.

    A little advice

Cost, as he is not as I understand it a pro user, they are less racy than the 550 and 560 but excellent quality, and feel free to shoot me down but are more accepting of any warranty unlike some I could mention .
  14. With Husqvarna the owner registers the saw, however when saws are dispatched the bar code it taken , so the system registers the dealer the saw was supplied too, I think your data base is excellent and can only be a good thing, and it’s free as well we just need owners to spend a few minutes to enter their equipment, unfortunately it’s too late once it’s been stolen.

    A little advice

450 and 455 are both so called clamshell design, these are semi pro saws, if you want a spit crankcase design it will have to be a more pro saw, which is going to be auto tune, 545 is a nice saw or 555 if you want bigger, there is nothing wrong with auto tune we are into the fourth generation now so I hear virtually no issues with it.
  16. Just a note Steve, any Husqvarna auto tune saw can have the owners name and address entered into the unit itself, so even if the ser no. is removed it will always remain with the saw, in an ideal world the selling dealer would do this at point of sale, but as you are finding out there seems little will to do this.
  17. Sorted well done.
  18. Just a word of advise, do not fit a non original unit, and make sure you get the correct unit for it, there are more than one, to make sure you need to remove the flywheel, on the underside will be a part number, go to a parts list that shows the part number and use the unit from that list.
  19. I am not convinced about an air leak, these machines eat ignition units, I have fitted plenty, I would just pull the whole thing apart as it does not take long, change the small sealing strips between cylinder and crankcase, belt and braces use some instant gasket as well, a couple of crank seals and rebuild, it’s pointless just messing about as you are not getting anywhere, they have a governed ignition so do sound funny at full revs and are not easy to get right, you cannot taco them at full revs because the ignition governor upsets the taco.
  20. Can we just go back what is actually wrong with the running of this saw? Are we just talking about the idle speed? Just to clarify.
  21. Whenever I have any issues with the 135/140/435 ( all the same platform ) I have stripped them right down, so it easy with the cylinder removed, no need to put anything between the cylinder and induction block when fitting.
  22. Just think how good you will feel when she runs well, and all your own work, on a slightly negative note it may be a real shit to fit without lifting the cylinder.
  23. The induction tube is item 4 in the list 504201201, it is a small assembly where the rubber is molded to the alloy frame,it also incorporates the impulse pipe, it needs to seal onto the inlet side of the cylinder, if the face is deformed in any way it will not seal properly or will impede the impulse. Dont give up its all a learning curve.
