  1. Pretty sure that is what I said, if that is a page from the 555 manual then it is terribly wrong, i must confess I thought they still used the ball bearing support cup as as the cup stopped running to reduce wear on it, however I know operators complained it made it harder to scythe through the grass when it stopped turning, I will look at the manual.
  2. There will always be saw dust on the exterior of the carb, dust behind the air filter has come through the filter itself, or the filter has not been connected properly and it has come vid the sides of the filter, through the filter I would expect dust, around the sides of the filter dust and larger particles of saw dust.

    346xp issues

Which breather are we referring too? the early breather consisted of two white pellets, small went in first followed by a larger one, they look like an aspirin, the later one was an small white assembly , these are still used today on many models and sure you can retro fit.
  4. Good advise, but be aware there is a back and a front to the lower crankcase, make a note before you remove it.
  5. Sir, I think before you spend any more money on this saw you need to let somebody else’s to take a look at it, they were a good model, but you need to watch how much you are spending on it, another set of eyes may see something you have over looked, it is very easy to loose track of what this is costing, and some parts are being changed needlessly.
  6. The bloody idiot, the support cup was like a dick in shirt sleeve on the output shaft, it will vibrate like hell, the support cup goes on first hence the hole diameter in it to sit on the arbour, then the flange and nut, you can see how accidents happen.
  7. Look forward to seeing the pictures.
  8. There were two different support cups, the metal one, and the plastic one with ball bearing in the middle, the metal one I was sure went on against the blade then the flange sat inside then the nut, the ball bearing support cup the flange went against the blade then the support cup which also incorporates its own securing nut, it may well have changed as the metal support cup was a later addition, the machine should always be turned upside down so as the blade can be aligned correctly on the flange arbour.

    Husqvarna 444se

You have the early carb, the later one has the part throttle when the choke is pulled, I have checked and unfortunately the filters are no long available from Husqvarna, so I guess you need to keep an eye out on the Bay for one.

    Husqvarna 444se

Better known as the trouble four, there was a change to the carb it was taken from the later 44, however i do not remember the air filter changing though, it may have got a little deeper but the face remained the same. Just a brief history, it started life as the 140s followed by the 240s/se followed by the 340se ( good saw ) to the 444se, they suffered with heat and hot starting, i guess with todays fuel they would be even worse. there was an G and FG version with felling cushion, i will see if there are any filters still available for it.
  11. Forgot to say the 550/560 Mk11 now has the same sealed bearing both sides, they are quite prone to the flywheel side seal leaking, this makes it difficult to start, and takes a long time to return to a fast idle, when plugged into CST the L setting will be down to 10 or lower so jet wide open to try and compensate for the air leak. Still like the Mk11 thought.
  12. So the mk11 coil is a Waldro unit and is black, you can also tell because it does not have a separate earth wire, the two units are not compatible, the part no.s on the coils do not match part no.s in the Ipl because it is supplied complete with the wires and wire cover, the cover is also different as it clips too the edge of the crankcase unlike the mk1 which is held with a self tapping screw, also the heated handle model Should still have a generator behind the flywheel, there is insufficient power within the coil to work the handle heaters. The mk11 coil can and does bare the wires and short out just as the leave the crankcase to the carb so take a good look in that area. Coronation street just finished Steve.
  13. I used a four stroke Dolmar saw at the APF one year, not seen one since, it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding I recall.
  14. I worked for a dealer who sold Dolmar, we sold a couple, they were not the most reliable thing, I remember changing the main beatings a couple of times, the rollers worn square, you take them apart and it looks like peace’s of broken piston ring on the rotor, they also ran so bloody hot, I still want one now, or the twin cylinder Echo.
  15. Started to see this more.
  16. I have seen these before, if there I’d no screw head then the needle is fixed and not adjustable, the screw in the side should be the H screw.
  17. I think we have to face the facts, the bloody carb is just set too rich! Sorry Steve you did say the H screw was well out, just trying to steal your thunder.
  18. What actually happens when you lean the H screw off? It just sounds like if you screwed the H screw in it would rev out properly and reduce the blow back, the H screw in the first video looks a long way out?
  19. It just does not sound right, if not blocked muffler the possibly ignition timing ( sheared flywheel key )?
  20. Does the machine have the spark arrester muffler? If so is it blocked?
  21. This may answer your question.
  22. The 555frm comes with the mulch blade if you can get one, to fit the mulch blade on the 555 fx is not really a good idea, the tube is shorter for timber cutting, this so as the blade cuts the timber at an angle to stop the stem trapping the blade, mulching and grass cutting is far better with a longer tube to keep the cutting equipment parallel with the ground, to fit the mulch blade onto the Rx there is a clam shell bracket to strengthen the tube and stop the tube possibly shearing, these parts can be seen in the frm parts list
  23. Anybody who would pay £18 for a crappy Chinese chainbrake obviously doesn’t worry too much about his/ her personal safety.
  24. 42 was the semi pro version of the 242xp, many parts may well be no longer available, the 268 was on the 272/266/61 platform, there should be ample parts available. As said post the bits you are after.
  25. Unfortunately I do not know what the dealers charge for labour, that is entirely up to them, to work on these batteries we need special cabinets, special benches, facility to dous the battery, special fire extinguisher etc, and dispose of batteries correctly, this all costs money, I do not write the rules just abide by them, lithium ion batteries can be very dangerous if handled incorrectly, yes you can take it apart, and yes you may be perfectly capable to work on them, however they have Husqvarna written on them, so we just cannot condone end users taking them apart, if anything goes wrong I can just hear the legal arguments, and law suits now,”I was not told not to take them apart “
