  1. No licence means the wedding (or civil partnership) will be void. Not sure how it is in England but I think you would be unlikely to get one for a woodland unless there is ruin or it is an extension of a established wedding business. They could get married somewhere nearby and say their vows in the woodland perhaps
  2. There you go Morrisons to create new milk brand for farmers Will be interesting to see when it comes to market whether the British public will pay the extra 25% or not
  3. Getting a TPO might be more hassle than it's worth, ie when you want to prune the tree yourself and if selling the house? Would take a lot of photos anyway, personally I'd speak to a lawyer and see what they say.
  4. Gransfors is the only Swedish axe company I can think of beginning with a G, others being Hultafors, Wetterlings, etc. You can always post on the Swedish forestry forum and I'm sure they'll be someone who can tell you what make and some other info. Skogs Forum If you don't speak Swedish Google will do it for you; Forestry Forum
  5. Looks like scale insects
  6. It's also that the beech leaves are one of the slowest to degrade and they have allelopathic properties that prevent other species germinating (why you shouldn't put beech leaves in your compost bin). But you can't base biodiversity just on what's obvious in front of you. Beech actually supports more insect life than several native hardwoods and is one of the top species of all trees in the UK for lichen varieties. This is what I was trying to get at that you have to look at the specific situation and environment and not just a black and white/native or non native approach.
  7. The problem is there seems to be UKIP style attitude to woodland management at the moment, where all native trees should automatically be preferred to non-native whatever the situation. Just because it's not native doesn't mean it doesn't provide greater environmental and social benefits, beech is a good example of this.
  8. The current price you're paying for roundwood delivered (m3), minus the haulage quote, minus £3/4 (to make it worth the time/effort). Wouldn't go by tonne as would imagine impossible to determine the weight loss.
  9. The leaves had long petioles and were very similar to poplar.
  10. I'll try to get more pictures, I've spent a good hour trying to identify it and have given up. The flowers are very similar to ground elder.
  11. Tree is about 20m tall with very fragrant flowers, some of the bark very similar to a cherry. Thanks.
  12. The reason you want the brake to stay on with full revs is that when if you trip and fall you automatically tense up, so if your hand is near the throttle you don't risk running the chain.
  13. In Sweden their version of the CS30 is promoted more as a stand alone course in it's own right. It is condensed into one day (as opposed to 2 in the UK?) so is far more attractive (time and money) to amateurs. You need full PPE and covers correct use, risks, maintenance, etc. It provides suitable training therefor for homeowners, builders, firewood merchants who use a chainsaw but don't fell trees (cutting up firewood, fencing, building, pruning, etc).
  14. Oreintal chestnut gall wasp (Dryocosmus kuriphilus) Just confirmed in Kent. Regarded as the world's worst pest of chestnuts.
  15. Wood chip requires far more N to break down than it will ever release. Wood chip mulch is therefor good for established trees and shrubs where you want to denitrify the surface to prevent N hungry weeds, grasses, etc.
  16. Never had that problem but probably because my car is never clean enough
  17. That sounds expensive for 1yr olds, for a yr old male and female I'd be thinking £100-150 total for both.
  18. The roost in the trees out of the way of the fox. Although when the new chicks hatch we put them in a pen for about 3 months till just bigger than a pheasant before letting them back out. Do sell some depending on how many chicks we get each year.

It's only you saying that, rest have more respect.
  20. I imagine most people now use a firelighter and maybe only 3 or 4 sticks of kindling to get the fire going. You can pick up firelighters at any supermarket for 4p a block so for most people cheaper and easier.
  21. "Filmed over five days, this film reveals the complex, time-consuming processes involved in creating a Windsor chair, made by Jim Steele in his Warwickshire workshop." Watch
