  2. I think they should be banned/restricted in cities if the house is on a mains gas supply.
  3. Maybe same for UK next?
  4. Worst thing iv'e used for vibes is karcher pressure washers. That Kawasaki Petrol looks good 2.0kw @ 6kg http://store.cobragarden.co.uk/brushcutters/cobra-bc530k-petrol-powered-53cc-bike-handle-brushcutter.html alot ligther than stihl of same power? 6kg seems really light I dontt like the FS 460 much as so heavy to use doinh a full day strimming
  5. See leylandi like the everywhere seems standard practice to hack em back like that.
  6. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/apr/29/millions-of-trees-at-risk-in-secretive-network-rail-felling-programme No more leaves on the tracks?
  7. Found this: https://www.worldofpower.co.uk/makita-rbc414u-40-2cc-petrol-brushcutter-bull-handle.html
  8. Anyone tried the new MM4 makitas? 4 strokes seem heavier for less power.... I have a old 2 stroke makita rbc3101 & its the best strimmer iv'e used prefer it compared to similar sized hondas & stihl iv'e also used. Will go though smaller diameter brambles with the bump head line but not old growth or blackthorn or gorse.
  9. Versialles has plenty of tourists without royals.
  10. I have this one. Cutting 40mm branch like the info says though is abitr optimistic I reckon more like 25mm in reality
  11. I hate thoose franchise companies that do this they charge the homeownwe £50 a month etc for less than 10 minutes work spraying the lawn. I like moss & daisys in lawns rather than monoculture unnatural looking grass.
  12. Sounds wrong to prune so severe twice, Over prunning equals mass of water shoots very common
  13. This guy was just in the news: https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/uk/tree-surgeon-convicted-of-shooting-murder-after-trying-to-pin-blame-on-his-son-36874178.html

  16. I did that for the first months after the course as its what they taught to pass the assessment. They would probably class it as a bad habit not doing that anymore?

  20. Noticed a local farmers has just flailed a few 100 metres of hedge. How about topping all thoose 20ft wide leylandi monsters in gardens is that not allowed? Sorry Mrs miggins can't do it till Septemeber?
  21. Bulldogs one no good as too big? https://www.farmforestry.co.uk/forestry-tools-equipment/spades/a-thorn-and-cell-planting-spade Can't find any other brand of spear in stock apart from this one: https://www.tudorenvironmental.co.uk/Tudor-tree-planting-spade
  22. Found this paper explains pretty well the need for air flow in a solar kiln. http://repositorio.lneg.pt/bitstream/10400.9/1585/1/Towards a competitive use of solar - paper.pdf
  23. Sounds like you want to intensively farm every last strip of land and no mention of enviroment impact. I don't think the enviroment is "pretty good" loads of species in decline, bird & insects, soil degradation, unsustainable fertillizer inputs, river pollution.... Actually the report mentions some of this. I don't know that there are solutions for theese issues but I think things could be alot better.
  24. Hill farmers or LFA getting 91% income from CAP. Without CAP no economic sense or possibility in farming hills. George Mobiots rewilding idea would of already happened decades ago without CAP as farms would of gone out of buisness?
