  1. Hill farmers or LFA getting 91% income from CAP. Without CAP no economic sense or possibility in farming hills. George Mobiots rewilding idea would of already happened decades ago without CAP as farms would of gone out of buisness?
  2. Sounds good but the devil will be in the detail. Im not confident as goverment policy is controlled by big buisness lobbying. Intersting thanks. seems chickens made money.
  3. How did they carry thoose ladders up Would be an interesting youtube video to watch
  4. Tie point broke also...
  5. Funny how jabba's always say there not fat its all muscle or they are" big boned", must be loads of that 1% extrme atheltes around Alot of people are in denial. Fat is the new normal so healthy people stand out nowadays as unusual. My Local lidl I reckon about 90% of peolpe shopping are fat, but in nearby waitrose say only say 50% fatties. Alot of variation between class.
  6. Reading about the method on wiki its sounds very interesting, but im having a hard time finding the actually guide to the practical techniques used on that Aforestt website behind the marketing gloss. Looks like very dense planting like what happens when a tree seeds naturally? (e.g sycamore regen) & planting pioneer species (e.g sliver birch) I can see some advantages it working well in tropics as dense planting forms a leave canopy fast blocking weed competition & stops soil drying out eroding by wind rain etc Better info here: http://urban-forests.com/en/ If the site it large its going to be alot of work/expense to raise & plant that many seedlings to plant at such a density. Also won't the trees evetually be stunted being so close, they don't mention any thinning?
  7. Samurai v silky zubat would be a good test. or Aldi v stihl cordless long reach trimmer Aldi trimmer is £59 including batteries v sthil hla58 £385 bare unit
  8. You could shed out of timber and clad in vistulux http://www.arielplastics.com/~/media/Ariel-Plastics/Files/Installation-Guides/Vistalux-Installation-Guide.pdf Dunno how overall price would compare to a polytunnel though
  9. Seems a good price for a big silky, no sheath though.. https://www.fine-tools.com/kobiki.html Second one down is a silky in the picture though not listed as one... Should cut rapid but probably a coarse finnish with that low tpi Longer version. https://www.silky-europe.com/alle-producten/pruning-saw-genki-temagari-500-3-5
  10. Thats not a tree looks like small shrubbery 5 minute job with a silky. Impossible from pictures to tell what is really, might br a cotoneaster, apple tree or could be anything.... Different speices respond differently to heavy prunning etc... Looks like its being topped before lvl across above the blue bird box.
  11. Trying to compared cordlesds against petrol saws..... The makita rear handle DUC353Z is rated at 1.1kw on the spec sheet http://www.makitauk.com/Productinfo/temp/productinfo_DUC353Z_18_4_2018_9_48_53.pdf This stiga is 1.6kw: https://www.stigalawnmowers.co.uk/sc-80ae-80-volt-lithium-ion-cordless-chainsaw-2 So do theese figures mean there about the same power as petrol saws of same ratings? (e.g a stihl ms 170 is 1.2kw) Also weights: Makita DUC353Z 4.6kg -5.5kg Sthil MSA 200 without battery 2.9kg - plus with with AP200 1.3kg or AP 300 1.7kg extra Anyone know the power ratings of the cordless stihl saws I can't find the info?
  12. I bought this makita/blue dolmar from germany https://www.svh24.de/makita-benzin-kettensaege-ea4300f38ckit-38-cm-7561?campaign=pdm/idealo & has free tin box. Over budget but i reckon good value.
  13. That sounds good I assumed one battery would last about 40 minutes. So with 2 batterries you could have the pleasure of cutting lelandyi all day bare tool is £50 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Makita-DUH523Z-18V-Cordless-Hedge-Trimmer-LXT-Body-Only/151812535321?epid=1905115863&hash=item2358bb7419:g:JPIAAOSw-wJaAxum
  14. Seems the Voltage of battery stuff keeps doubling 18v, 36v, 56v, now 120v etc Oregon do some new 120v tools: https://opereviews.com/landscaping/string-trimmers/oregon-120v-cordless-professional-series/ And in USA now selling 120v chainsaw: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Redback-18-in-120-Volt-Electric-Cordless-Chainsaw-106493/301978228 Does 120v mean alot more power than the 36v?
  15. Id like to know this also. I did try to look it up before I think might of being something about LANTRA and NPTC being different as one needed a refresher the other didn't but iv'e forgotten now.
  16. Taking "stuff" away in salisbury wonder what they do with everything & people told to wash phones & clothes. What do you reckons going on how should UK respond etc.
  17. I thought the homeowner husky & stihl saws were already made in china. Do all china ebay saws need 25:1 or 40:1 mix, as not seen any listed as 50:1 so they can't or don't bother to make them the quality of engine to be able run @ 50:1?
  18. Loppers & silkysaw & maybe small chainsaw would do for hegde in pic, wouldn't bother with massive bars imo. Find were the base of the trunks are & cut on the side thats grown out widest out from the middle first imo. Cleaning/raking up all the bits is what takes ages, not so much the actually cutting as it creates massive pile of stuff if you cut a load off. Also Cut/strim the grass short along the sides hedge first & consider getting tarp for stuff to fall onto, then you can drag stuff on tarp.
  19. Good advice here: https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=398 The 3 yrs thing is sensible for dramatic hegde lops so you don't stress the hedge plants too much.
  20. Found this managment plan: https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/media-library/documents/environment-and-planning/countryside-management-service-–-places-to-visit/places-to-visit/broxbourne-woods/broxbourne-woods-management-plan.pdf
  21. I think its an ash from looking at the google street view picture, the chunky size & growth pattern of twigs look vey ash like, still pic is not very good though... http://www.mapcode.com/getcoordst.html?mapcode=GBR+ 30.D1W9&Submit=Show
  22. Anglesey, theys have culled the greys to local extinction so there a load of reds: http://www.redsquirrels.info/map-holder/
  23. NZ doesn't have agri subsidies & countryfile is aways banging on about how wonderful it to farm over there is as makes the farmers resourceful etc
  24. Bagder baiting still quite a popular past time & not surprising considering many farmers attitudes to wildlife https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/feb/05/huntsman-jailed-for-badger-baiting-in-wales
  25. https://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb/auction-catalogues/witham/catalogue-id-witham10057/lot-b6d2f5b7-6862-42cf-99c1-a89d00e2e9f1 Only 14k milage
