  1. Have about 3ft depth rubble under area were chop logs so it doesn't turn in mud bath but as covered with turf just looks like a lawn now. Like a soakaway. Rest of garden is a total swamp in winter.

  8. Had some seasoned elm rounds as blocks lasted yrs eventually the ends got worn down in middle like saucers so had to gradually cut them shorter. Seasoned scots pine goes hard also and spongy texture makes a good chopping block Yeah agree

  16. Used to mess around with sleges and wegdes but now found its easier put the awkward bits too one side and use a chainsaw to noodle them up. Don't use the x27 that much find its too abit too lightweight for most stuff unlesss smaller diameter rounds with prefect grain. Prefer a maul with more weight in the head. Takes less effort to use than the x27 as you don't need to hit the wood as hard.
