Think its a dumb move a as battery isn't a viable alternative atm and unsure it it ever will be for bigger saws? Maybe they just weren't making much profit from there petrol stuff ? Shame they couldn't sell the dolmar brand name or something.....and keep it going seperate from makita under different ownership. Makita have also developed the mm4 4 stroke machines which are more eco so seems a shame to stop that.... Also annoying as spares will no doubt become impossible to get?

Wouldn't rule oak as they can grow pretty fast, seen the annual new growth reach near 3ft a yr once established (Think it depends alot on how exposed and windy the site is) Sycamore can be used as a nurse crop very fast growing. Birch good pioneer speices for new sites likes acid soil Yew as a native evergreen? EDIT maybe not good as grow to all will high eventually?.... Smaller trees... Maybe goat willow & Rowan? This is a useful sytem imo Hedge Structures HEDGEROWSURVEY.PTES.ORG Most round here majority are either: H1 Over-trimmed H1 Heavily over-trimmed, hard knuckle at trim line Many gaps, sparse stems Bases may be gnarled or rotting Usually low and narrow May be invaded by elder, sycamore or other invasive sp. Lacks branches and foliage in the lower parts Closely and frequently flailed to the same line Or H9 Tall or overgrownH9 Over-mature hedgerow, tall and leggy Spreading tops might be dying back Collapse possible No significant woody foliage in the lower parts May be developing gaps Not as many ones inbetween. And probably 80% less hedge trees since the elms died.

Trouble with ive had with gortex/other breathable jackets is they seem to loose there effectiveness and stop beading the water when they get older? (less than 1 yr) Admitedly they were the cheaper end of the range iv'e tried. Any gortex etc ones that actually last longer or which you can effectively reproof etc? Tried reproofing old gortex didn't work very well. How much life/use is reasonble to expect from a breathable waterproof before it gets knackered?
