  1. Mate had big bad dog Came in one morning and broken glass with lot of blood around it ...obviously failed break in ... Dog 1, thieves 0 He cleaned up mess, went straight out and repaced glass Later in morning police arrived as there had been complaint he had a dangerous dog! No signs of break in so police left Dog 2 thieves 0 Dog was lovely, unless you tried to break in....
  2. There is statistic something like Being hit by a mini doing 150mph is same energy as being hit by fully laded artic doing 3 mph Which would you choose... Its really about how much energy passes into your body.... So a large bullet moving slowly = small bulet moving fast Hoe tat akes sense

I used to occasionally go to thatcham to watch the crash tests When they rear crash tested sierra the back chassis crumpled and "locked" the two back doors, and the fuel tank fell off Premiums doubled overnight....... Apparently old rear engined skoda was great in tests, built like a tank..... Rumor was Crash tests are at 19 mph ( might be kph) because mercedes started testing and their cars crumpled at 20.....

  5. Bmw cars have similar problem Apparently so many electrics battery will go flat if ignition eft on inabout 20 mins Electrical fault turns ignition on in midle of night ----
  6. I believe American Police cars are the only vehicles designed to protect their occupants in 70mph rear end impacts Presumably why they use them in so many films .......

My silly bugger ex neighbour send one up to me couple of years ago Said he was " nice old man collecting scrap " Other neighbour saw him driving up and phoned me, so I was ready for him when he drove into yard ... Booted him off asap Within couple of weeks several farms done over I've been locking gates ever since .....

Seen steering wheel go through roof of escort in front end impact Passenger go through bulkhead into engine bay Fireblade cut a transit into two pieces Horses legs come through sunroof and then thrash about motorcyclist come through rear side window of car and end up in the car And worse There are no end of ways to get hurt in a car, drive to protect yourself .....Wear belts... Tie loose stuff down....keep your car serviced....and fit good tyres.....etc etc
  9. If Stihl and Husky offer warranty but dealers refuse to honour them ..... Where does that leave Stihl n Husky ? S&H need to make warranty work profitable for their dealers, then they will be fighting for the work...... Sounds like more accountants chopping away costs ...... I'd guess there is always underlying threat of taking agency away from retailer/repairers to keep them working at low rates...
  10. I used to assess for NFU. Amongst others 12 years ago they were the best, sad to hear some of you feel they have changed Anyone any experience with Rural Inurance Co ? ....... My insurance up for renewal and I'm considering a change too
  11. No reason why you can't set up a national collection and delivery service and focus on warranty andother repairs..... Fill your shop with paying repairs ..... To replace lost sales No need for expensive shop premises then.....

  13. I've gotba mate who goes round old churchyards moving bits of iron from under yews He says it's summat to do with churchyard magic......he told me you'll always find iron under an old yew, didn't believe him till I dd some looking ..... Maybe just soewhere handy to dump old junk...

There is a group of chinese guys walking round Europe looking closely at this He and his mates smile politely when you talk to them They say little ( inscruitable is the word ) but look and photograph a lot They will be neatly dressed in grey suits and when they get on plane home you wonder what all that was about When they get home they say, " WE CAN TAKE THIS MARKET....what are those european dicks thinking of " Their factories are full of new machines, and top quality engineers They will then undercut europeans and they will take the market Stihl are playing into their hands How do I know ? Because they are always in Chester looking at Airbus .....
  16. Somebody on this forum said getting forestry grants dropped them into trouble with capital gains/death duty on sale of farm ( not sure which) need to keep your eye on this....
  17. There was abandoned cat d9 on my farm, owner had died and relatives lived abroad Gone when sale completed...... Got my first chainsaw ( oregon ) free from guy who'd lost interest after he'd cut two fingers off with it ....

  20. Bear in mind that " demonstrator" vehicles arr often the ones damaged in transit If they put new panels on they sell them as demonstrators..... Used to inpect damaged in transit, typically a car breaks loose in Bay of Biscay and rolls backwards and forwards damaging lots of other cars. Those are ones sold as demonstrators ....
  21. When we sold warranty I asked claims manager about great wall pick ups He said they had 1000's on cover in dubai and had never had a warranty claim So pretty good build quality I know when nissan go wrong its mega bucks to repair

  23. In the old days they'd take a kid to the station Buy ticket and tie luggage label to him Then "off you go son" My mate was sent to boarding school when he was 4!
  24. My wife has said for years we should have business " beach huts in the hills " Like Southold but cheaper and no sea ......
