  1. At one time laguna auto boxes were delivered with swarf in them....... No wonder your mate liked them You could also get renault megane 4x4 - rare as hens teeth though.....

My son started uni In surrey He had qualified at practical stuff at night school when he was 16 The degree was 5 hours a week ! 3 of those was subject he was qualified in, so they used him to teach it Stuck it till xmas then transferred to american university 40 hours of lectures a week If there was bank holiday they had extra lectures over weekend to "catch-up" Started at 8:30 am finished at 10;00 pm Dfferent work ethic in america ............

  5. When I was assessing Combine harvester picked up crap and wrecked augers Farmers drove to east anglia to get parts and fitted overnight = long day First thing in morning Started combining and drove over toolbox

  9. I bought v8 engine from states and that was here pdq too Some garage in birmingham wanted £10k to rebuild engine - bought brand new one in a crate for £3500 - that stopped them ......

I'm in similar position to you but my woods are long standing I went for alpine tractor as my fields are steep and I scare easily More wood than I can handle Coppicing seems to be a paying proposition in sussex to dorset belt, and lake district ( plenty brass to pay for charcoal etc ) not sure about N Wales though - everyone seems to live on grant money here Going to get fergie out again as alpine too small for full ibc containers
  12. When I was assessing went to farm He was feeding sugar waste to cows to get butterfat content up ( some grant thing ) He'd bought 40 tonne lorry full of condemmed turkish delight It was very hot and ddn't tip When nearly vertical whole lot went over sideways Never seen so many wasps

They also left dead /wounded birds EVERYWHERE Luckily he believed me They opened up gate from forestry onto my land, and there were land rover tracks around my fields....... UPSUM. Absolute pillochs Shoot no longer welcome here

Range rovers $35,000 or £40,000+ Remember USA geared up for mail order ( they have to be cos its a big country ) so generally no problem getting parts shipped My mate worked in calfornia for ten years and brought loads of stuff back, when his washibg achine broke he got parts shipped in three days

  17. I had high hopes for the new dacia duster 4x4 crew cab pick up But they are not importing to uk..... Guess that renault/dacia/nissan relationship means they want to sell nissan pick ups for £25k rather than dacia ones at about £12k I might consider lhd one If price right

We ( well my missis) looked at this when we came out of Tir Gofal She said " we're not doing this , not worth the effort " I don't like leaving " money on the table " but I had to agree with her when I looked at it.... Tir Gofal was very good for us, but costs much more marginal with Glastir, and onerous about stuff like using aluminium (?) nails for bird boxes ......just felt I could see grief ahead Shame really

  21. Watched documentary some time ago They were restoring stuff of this standard from couple hundred years ago They had guy recreating stuff and he was charging mega thousands Perhaps your dad should recreate antique deigns

I had multipla We all loved it Very different driving experience Kid in the middle, and roll along whilst you all chat Flat floor and range rover ground clearance too Only problem was noisy wheel bearing just before i sold it It's the car we look back on with fond memories Not best for long motorway journeys though
  23. Just got back from Gers in rural France Stumbled across brocant street market, loads of adzes for sale plus draw knives etc etc No riving tools though - limited in what I could get home Stuff was cheap too - typically 15€ for a draw knife
