  1. did this one today , top broken out of a Leylandii. and this to do tomorrow, stem split out of another.
  2. Not sure, had a trooper with bumper lights that worked and lights higher up that didn’t, always wondered why
  3. I’m having it done in a months time, so I’m guessing I might not be able to climb for a couple of weeks after? Don’t intend to take any time off work though may have to hire a climber by the sounds of it
  4. Or maybe just drive sensibly when it’s icy. We had 2 weeks of icy roads In Wiltshire before Xmas, I have 6 miles of un treated roads to drive in the morning to work. Would I be better to get winter tyres on and drive like a twat or take 10 minutes longer and just drive steady
  5. Not sure, but my dash display looked like a disco[emoji23]
  6. Where it was attached to the body it had rusted badly and needed re connecting
  7. Mine had a similar problem. The problem kept coming and going. One garage changed the starter motor, solved it but wouldn’t start two days later. It turned out it was a bad earth under the driver seat just on top of the step. Month later it did it again. Bad earth under the bonnet. Check your earths before anything else, could be a cheap fix
  8. Nobody has said it but cutting and holding properly is safer than step cutting and trying to grab the bloody bit before it falls. If you do this you will catch your arm on your saw as it is running down when you don’t move it out of the way quickly enough. Just don’t try to cut and hold too big a bit. I have a mate who cut off his nipple when the large piece he was holding dragged him down onto his saw. Cut and hold. Just use your common sense
  9. Has it rusted away yet!
  10. What happened to lads who could just lift big logs?! Milled an ash butt for a customer today, six planks about 10 feet long 20 inches wide two inches thick. Heavy boards , made me puff, I’m not the biggest chap in the world but we managed to carry 2 boards 50 yards to stack in the shed and he’d hurt his back after the 2nd one! C’mon! I’m 36, only had a bad back for 3 days about 7 years ago, he is 21! Always moaning he is ill or aching! I would have struggled those boards in and gone home happy, now I have the problem of four boards left at the bottom of the hill. Probably struggle them up on my own, in the dark after work next week. Just try harder, man up and get on with it. I was taught to carry timber by a slight fellow when I was 16. I said ‘ how can you lift that?!’ ‘Wirery strength’ he said. Where the f**k has that idea gone?! Rant over Thanks Will To be fair he is a good lad and pick stuff up quick , good on a saw, just can’t lift or run back from the chipper[emoji23]
  11. Obviously a ‘who can lift lift the biggest bit’ competition of course[emoji23]
  12. Ha! My grandad always said to me, ‘ easystart will ruin an engine!’ But he had a can in every tractor he’d had!
  13. I traded on trading 212 for a couple of months I used the £10000 demo account to start with, can’t remember whether I made or lost with it, but then opened a real account with £200 of my own real money. I made £150 in the first two days trading bitcoin but then it dipped, I lost my nerve and closed my account having made a £15 loss. It’s shot up since! If I’d have held on to it I might have been rich by now[emoji23] Unlike rob I didn’t do months of research and don’t really understand it. So I’m out
  14. I need a climber for 4 maybe 5 days in starting either Monday 22nd or Monday 29th of January 2018. The job is to crown raise and crown thin 26 mature lime trees with some trees also needing to be reduced back the boundary with the neighbouring gardens. The job is in reading but I live in east Wiltshire so either meet on site or come to my yard. Contact me on 07917725646, [email protected] or pm me on here Thanks Will
  15. I don’t feel bad about taking any tree out. I planted 10s of thousands in Devon before I moved up to Berkshire so I’ve done my bit. My aim now is to fell as many trees as I can and make as much money as possible so that I can move back down. I used to have Tree morals but now I have kids I don’t.
  16. Does your boss send you to all of the hedgecutting jobs? I got that
  17. I know you pain mate, have done that to an ivy covered concrete post
  18. Reduced this tree in the garden of my customers neighbour today. Had to use the ladder to access it as there were too many brambles and buddliea in the way. Neighbour didn’t want the tree down completely but it has improved my customers view of the hills in the distance, at least for this winter. Dog sh*t covered drag aswell
  19. Rabbit pie for tea tomorrow then steve! Do you want to look after my dog for the weekend?
  20. I just love cutting trees. I don’t think I’ve ever talked a client out of taking a tree out.
  21. I guess it would be up to the landowner or council to clear the Tree to make it safe and clear the path. I know of one fallen tree in a woods I work in that has been left by the landowner to stop 4x4s driving up, but you can still walk under it. Why do you want to clear it?
  22. Anyone any idea of how much these boards are worth roughly?
  23. Yep, wind is in the right direction! Grand fir has a strong orangey smell, similar to Douglas by more orangey, that’s how I can I d it and I’m right
  24. Ha! That reminds of the time I asked my groundy to refill the combi can from the fuel can in the corner by the hedge. He put 2 stroke in and mix it but I wasn’t watching. After he had refuelled my 372 I had trouble starting it would fire, big cloud of smoke but wouldn’t run. Smelt a bit diesely but I use my cans for Both so may have had a drop in from before but I knew I’d filled it with petrol that morning. He lent me his 461 and I carried on chogging down with that. It stank of diesel and was smokey but I carried on for a tank full and then came down. ‘Which can did you fill the combi from? I asked. ‘The big one’ he replied It was a 5 gallon barrel with diesel in it. No damage done to either saw. The 461 ran rather well on it!
  25. Going by the smell I think its abies grandis
