  1. It's pretty common in other industries but you would have to word it very carefully for work that is carried out before payment! If an insurance company or supermarket offers the same sort of deal it's not considered bad, but as said it could mean price wars starting and issues further down the line if a customer is that focussed on price, not quality of the work. If you quote a job at a rate that works for you, the next quote might be unmatchable too - especially with cowboy traders around. You're probably better off just offering the lowest price you can afford to start with! Do customers ever just give the price of other quotes to see if you can beat them without you having to ask/offer?
  2. Looks great! Bet it'll make the pub look a bit special - they must be very pleased!
  3. You could always hire in the machinery to save the initial outlay/contractor costs? This could be good for the mowing side of what you're doing: Ryetec PTO Flail Shredder | Acacia Equipment Hire | Sussex Probably cheaper to do it yourself than with a contractor, but its always good to compare prices and the value of the amount of your time it will take up. Also if you're looking for second hand machinery, the Pitchcare website is always worth a look - For Sale | Pitchcare Used Machinery

  7. I heard that this morning, poor guy wasn't getting an easy health ride through life. Surprising how much you can hide from people, even when you're in the public eye!

  12. We're fully into the digital age it seems! Do you know if it includes work activity online, or just spare time browsing? On the same tune, heard the average 6 year old has as much online/device knowledge as a 45 year old!
  13. Has anyone been doing the Big Butterfly Count with all these great spots? big butterfly count
  14. That'll be perfect for a big bbq! Nice work
  15. What a great little tree - and a survivor! Shame they're building, view is lovely.
  16. What a brilliant idea! Price tag is a bit much, though it would look good through the airport! If any of you make your own you'll have to stick up some pictures!

  20. Acacia have a 1.2m Kubota sweeper collector that goes behind a tractor, and a Billy Goat Vacuum Collector if its any help? We're quite near you and either would do your job. 23. How interesting! I would keep it for the novelty, not something you come across everyday. You could always cut them down and make something out of the fused chunk?
  24. Hope you're alright! Be careful - don't want that happening whilst you're operating machinery.
  25. That's just awful, he was only 42. Are the regs in America a bit more lax than here? Be careful out there when you're chipping!
