  1. sad to say people just don't like them anymore (round our way anyway)
  2. moved house about 10 months ago so only got a log burner at the min will be moving the log burner to the other end of the house and fitting a back boiler where the log burner is now. all ways had burners or boilers and wouldn't have anything els if you have logs about
  3. I like doing them but people don't like paying for them! to do them properly takes time and time costs money! nice wall by the way

  6. if he turns up i'm off! thanks for the replys the house is about 30-40 years old and the hedge was planted 17 years ago and not been touched since! one of the widest hedges I have ever worked on and they are planted so close together its unbelievable
  7. got to remove a leylandii hedge soon its not got a TPO on it and its about 100m out side of a conservation area (so not in a conservation area.) its in a private garden and the owner owns the land ether side of the hedge (house-drive/parking-lawn-hedge-lawn-road) stumps are max 7" at the base trees are 20-25' tall and over 20' wide. pretty sure I don't need permission from anyone other than the owner but want to check as the village people like to complain a lot there many thanks

  10. are augers that much quicker than post hole diggers? we do a lot of feather edge with post hole diggers and they are pretty quick( cant remember the last time we had "easy" digging). how do you get on with obstacles with an auger? in the last couple of weeks we have had 2x 9" clay pipes about 14" down and a 2" electric cable 8" down with nothing in or around it all of witch we managed to avoid but im sure we would have had a problem with an auger

  13. we quoted for a fencing job on sat at a very expensive holladay let. job was to remove a large hedge and replace it with 40M of feather edge only snag was if I got the job it had to be completed before Friday (tomorrow) morning. ended up getting it! Monday loads of calls to move jobs about then head down rain or shine to get the job done! finished it just before it got dark tonight. no rain dodging for me this week lol . As for connies got a bad one next week only 5M tall but about 6M wide of tangled mess!
  14. we have an account with the scrappy we use. we can take in as much or as little as we like and the value just goes on the account. then any time we like we can go and get the acc paid out. we get a cheque,vat ticket, and a printed breakdown of what went on the account and when
  15. all my stuff has got my post code etched on to them in as many places as possible and as deep as possible so it will not just sand off
  16. we have gas central heating and a log burner. we use the log burner as much as possible and the wife loves it!
  17. in my eyes I don't charge m8's and they don't charge me. I had a load of plumbing done by a good m8. weekends work for him with me assisting only charge was for parts and a few beers so when he wanted a new patio doing the same applys . that's just the way I see it anyway

  20. although im landscaping/fencing im in the same boat as you! this is my first winter of being sett up on my own. spent most of the summer building a good rep and getting my name known now we are booked up till the end of feb with just the odd week spare for odds and sods and the last week the phone didn't stop ringing with quotes! im off out this avo to price up 4 more jobs. I know that's not much help to you but what im trying to say is keep on plodding away building your reputation and the rest will follow! good luck fella!

  22. I aim to do the job better than anyone else even if it takes that little bit longer!

  24. stihl hp super for me to! not exactly expensive when you think how many litres it makes
