  1. Its been in hibernation so I dug it out today ( feck loads of saw maintainence to do ) , cleaned it up,made it look prety and bolted it back on the bench . Very easy to make from a lump of 1"1/4 waterpipe, short piece of 35mm solid rod , some 50x10mm flate plate, and a 16 mm bolt. The adapters bolt on where the bar would go so you will need to make a few different ones to suit, I stamp them up so I know what they fit. You also need to trim them down as much as possible to to give you access to the clutch/brake etc. Its much easier than chasing a saw around a bench, most jobs can be done without removing it from the fixture. Makes this work so much easier Bob

  3. As above TCD you need a flow/pressure meter but be prepared for a big disappointment, things can be very different when everything is toasty hot. Cant see how they can get to 3k for a few minutes work but if you get stuck you can borrow mine. Bob
  4. This will slow him down a bit, he is cutting a lump out of the length and about a foot off the height of the neck on this trailer. Bob

  6. Stefan you are going to love our six ton "Dumper Stumper" . Based on a six ton thwaites 4x4 dumper with a shuttle , swivel skip removed and a direct drive 8.3 ltr turbo Perkins V8 diesel ( very compact and loads of torque @a very leisurely 1500 rpm) Running a similar set up to our big Rayco but mounted to the swivel set up on the dumper, should have at least 13 feet of sweep with an augur shifting the grindings to one side. Gathered all the bits bar the wheel ( still doing research on teeth that will poke up with that engine). If Mick Dundee does not go on walkabouts this year we will get it built.   7. Yes Blah, it has surprised a few after they stopped laughing at it. Its just handy to keep in the cab of a machine for the occasional cut, that said there was 100meters strip of very small Birch regen that needed cutting off a bank the other day and this thing just did it on the one charge ( saved me a drive back to the yard for a proper saw). I would like to see Stihl bring out an in car charger for them though and I need to remember to keep a drop of chain oil in the cab, the tank will empty before the battery has run down. Bob Edit: would also like to see some leather pouches made to protect the spare batteries.
  8. Some of the case tractors had a cable operated PTO control, they seize and bind up in time. May be worth digging a bit deeper. Bob

  12. Bought this Volvo with no paperwork ( big mistake) , DVLA have managed to loose everything and I have had to start again which has delayed things. Anyway Mick managed to fit the sliding fifth wheel on , fabricate a draw bar with a drop plate and bolt on a jaw. That should be all the towing kit sorted and with a bit of luck/ DVLA cooperation this may be on the road in a week or two. Bob

  14. Only have my own theory as to why, I bought a pile of them with the same thoughts of fitting them to the mogs . My essplurnation Mog tyres are a flotation tyre with a supersoft sidewall and are designed to run at relatively low pressure ( 30 ish psi) , theyare very much part of the vehicles suspension. These cheap army truck tyres are really hard compound and are deigned to run at 100+psi. The mog rim has an upstand of about 24mm and the split rims are about 45mm. I think the problem is the tyres need to be pumped up to 100psi to keep them from rotating on the rim which is totally out of the question with a Mog. The mog rim only comes up the tyre register a small amount, the moulding of the tyres has small ribs in which stop it sealing as a tubeless and they are shite
  15. I have tried this on a mog and found they would not work as a tubeless, worse still when fitted with a tube the tyre would creep around the rim and in time rip the valve out. Gave up in the end and went back to a mog tyre. Bob

  17. I cant see how you lot are arriving at these figures. Assuming buying in timber with 20% vat attached and selling with @5% it would depend on the mark up and running expenses as to what was claimed back. If you charged 3x the purchased price for the end product with no overheads there would be nill to reclaim. 10 ton of timber bought in @ £50 a ton will have £100 worth of vat attached to it If that timber made 30 loads @ £65 + 5% vat delivered its virtually a nil balance on the timber side of things with the exception of reclaimable/unreclaimable ( dependant on VAT scheme your in ) costs.   19. It can be done without a donkey engine Mathew , Mick`s doing the fabrication work on a 3 tonner at the moment that will run mulchers etc without all these issue`s . No point in showing bits and pieces so will post up how its done when finished ( its cruel but worth it ) Bob
  20. None of the small 360`s can run flails very well. Even if the flow rate is there the second you pull a lever to slew or use any other function the flow rate will fall off a cliff. If you choose an attachment that will operate on 50% of the machines advertised flowrate and are mindful of what's going on you can run a flail with a degree of success, it takes a while to get used to this but its doable. A grinder would be totally out of the question unless someone knocks one up that has its own engine fitted as an attachment. Bob
