  1. You wont fall out of it now http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=184483&stc=1&d=1434751096
  2. Fill your boots with them. Bob
  3. Aftermarket or genuine blades Jack? We have had replacement blades fail but never genuine. Bob
  4. I feel the industries perspective on HSE has become fragmented. There is no chance of unification within the current crop of qualification providers and the last thing needed is another tier of bull over the top of them. Bob
  5. The solution is regional. If that was around here there would be no takers for the arisings from the tub grinder. All that would achieve would be to put a load of effort and a lot of money turning x tons of stumps into x tons of equally expensive to get rid of rubbish. Its different if you can sell it. Bob
  6. Sounds like a job for one of Justin Kingswells burn boxes. Bob
  7. I dont know what area you are in but Rhodes packaging are prety good in Aldershot. What out for the carrot sacks, we had one type that started to degrade and fall apart before we got to sell them. 8. I got the weight ticket so what do you reckon? Bob

    Home brew!

Nothing fancy, only the diy wine kits but make a decent palatable wine for about 73p a bottle. This lot will make about 120 bottles. Bob
  10. When you do could you PM the prices through please. I am cutting a load of new fencing on the mill at the moment and wondering if should dip the lot in creosote prior to installing. The only posts in this place that are still good after being here 30+ years are the old sleepers and telegraph poles I originally put in. All the supposed " new treated guaranteed junk" has failed at around the 5 year mark. Bob
  11. I dont care how careful you are there is always the possibility of hitting an mdpe underground main whether gas or water. Service layers are contractors and rarely bury them at the correct depth. The later mdpe pipes have a tracer strip in them so you can find them with a cat and genny . If you are doing domestic work you are better off having a squeeze off tool in your kit. These are cheap from a plumbers merchant and will at least clamp of the leak before a flood happens or an explosion from gas. Essential part of the kit and takes seconds to put on and clamp down, it also wont damage the pipe so a coupling can be fitted for a fix. Or if you are on commercial work like this. This one we have clamped a big waterpipe with . Without it we would have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage. The fight of who`s fault it is can rage on but at least you can avert a disaster. The small squeeze off is about £10 and will do up to 32mm gas or water so will cover most domestic situations. Bob Edit forget the tenner bit they seem to have gone up. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Plumbers-Emergency-MDPE-Plastic-Water-Pipe-Squeeze-Off-Tool-RRP-34-99-/321782624290?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4aebbd3022
  12. Dave does ok out of the rough loads. His lads will have that converted down into logs in half a day. We charge £450-650 for a load like that, he will turn that into twenty five or thirty loads @ £100 a load ( he gives people a very greedy load ) I don't think North of 2.5k is bad for what would be a total two days work inc the delivery. The guys with the processors that we deliver to don't seem to have the same bulging pockets that Dave has, they call this progress Bob
  13. It's worth spending the bit extra and going dual voltage. You never know when you may need to put the trailer behind a truck and you don't have the luxury with led lamps of taking off a lens to quickly swap bulbs. Bob
  14. I know dozens of extremely competent climbers and cutters that don't have tickets. Come to think of it the ones I regard as the most competent are the ones with no tickets, that also rolls out to machine drivers:confused1: Bob
  15. This is the best option, not as expensive as a tractor to run. Bob

  17. That sort of wood goes to Dave the log, he will take any log wood no matter what it is and is screaming at me for more of it. He has a couple of lads that will have that lot split and on the pile in half a day, no processor on site they will just attack everything in front of them.Dave does very well out of it Straight small diameter timber goes elsewhere, we find buyers for all of it. Bob
  18. I think most buyers of timber know what they are getting at a glance. A mixed bag of timber with curly bits with varying diameters can still be up around the 30 ton mark. Most driver know as soon as they pull away whats on there. Bob http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=184127&stc=1&d=1434191033 http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=184128&stc=1&d=1434191033 http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=184129&stc=1&d=1434191033 http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=184130&stc=1&d=1434191033
  19. I would go for the resistors because of the amount of different vehicles our trailers end up on. The relay is all well and good if thats the only tow barge. The resistors only go on the two indicators so the heat thing is not really that big an issue and they fit in the junction box under the trailer. 2 x LED indicator & rear light load resistor kits 50W | eBay Bob
  20. Why not pump it out like all the other companies do? Bob
  21. I was ok until I got past " Hi ". I think Jon was driving like a loony and tried to ram someone off the road whilst using his landrover to intimidate the other driver. I may be wrong He will no doubt be putting us all straight on the mattter. Bob
  22. You did? As long as no one is injured Jon is doesn`t matter. Its only bent metal. Bob
  23. Come on now chaps you know full well that Joe Likely of no fixed abode can door knock and get tree work. He is not required by law to be insured or have any qualifications , it is basically left down to the customer to evaluate his competence and professionalism. A totally unqualified/uninsured Joe Likely can trim hedges, cut trees mow lawns and tarmac drives in his bare feet in boxer shorts if he wants to and absolutely nothing will come of it. HSE have no say in what he does and in the event of him being hospitalised it will go down in the book as a work related accident. End of, in the event of him killing himself it would probably be called misadventure. Excrement would only hit the fan if one of his employees injured/killed himself. Bob
  24. The bottom line here is as a self employed person on private work you can use what you like, wear what you like, top handle saws on the floor, chuck n duck chippers and saws with no chainbrakes. It all changes when employing people or working as a contractor. Bob
