  1. On this theme dont forget one of these gadgets http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/50917-my-grinder-ate-gas-pipe-9.html Bob
  2. +1 I can understand the OP`s concerns re having one truck tied up just for this but there is nothing to stop you making something multipurpose. I am just about to lift the bowser body off the MK Bedford and make it a bit more than just a bowser. With the various bodys on twist locks it will end up in daily use. Started to unbolt the tank. And will be transplanting this tipper body, hiab and frame off a beaten up old cargo onto the MK chassis , then have the frame on the chassis held down with twist locks. The Hiab can then load whichever body is needed onto the twistlocks. The tipper sides slide off and I am going to weld in sockets for timber bolsters. Thats the theory anyway so it should end up a decent little ten ton 4x4 Bowser, tipper and timber truck run about. Three of these down each side
  3. I think we must be showing our age Stubby  For the uneducated [ame] [/ame]
  4. We will all be in these trucks soon, the Jap stuff gets bigger with every model change. Park a new ranger next to an old one Bob
  5. Either way I dont think I would ever allow myself to get drawn into an online slanging match. These things tend to instantly die on their arse if they are ignored and not fueled. As Mark pointed out its an open forum and Mrs Miggins may well be offended . Bob
  6. Lots of new bits because the things in for test in a month so with brakes and balance its an axle overhaul. The seal was a funny shape on the outside so I spun up a press tool to push it in the hub ( too dear to butcher in with a hammer at £50 each) All back together And made up some new brake pipes for the axle. Its the 6mm stuff so you need a bender or it just flattens out.
  7. Ten tonners turn this time. A clatter and a bang after pulling out of a job with the loss of some brakes revealed a ripped off brake pipe and a stabbed rear tyre. Something else must have got inside the drum because one of the adjusters was bent and there was a lump out of the wheel cylinder, also the grease seal had been torn which in turn contaminated the brake linings.
  8. Its all down to logistics Lloyd, softwood arb waste is worthless in the south but by the time you transport it north, east or west in its gotten expensive. A trip in the artic to Pembrokshire from here would be a two day jaunt and £600 in fuel. The only other way would be find someone running a bulker bin back your way empty. You certainly would not be paying for the wood. Bob
  9. Has anyone here tried the load leveler shocks with an on board compressor? Best of both worlds, pump up the shocks from dashboard switch to load level and dump the air when empty. Keeps the ride comfort and stops your dentures eating the dash over rough ground. Bob This sort of thing http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=184945&stc=1&d=1435340676
  10. We are south enough for it to warm up a pool. I have rented that property out and the tenants just will not spend the money on the chemicals or put in the time to keep it all going , its now decommissioned until someone that can appreciates a pool moves in. Bob
  11. Build the Pool so the sun is in it all day, I built a 60x30 in the garden that just by luck never needed heating. It was warm enough to use as is right through till august. Bob
  12. 19 months old [ame] [/ame]
  13. Here is Transit one our design and development team have been working on. Bob
  14. Had a visit today for over an hour, they picked up on the ag registered BedfordTM Bowser and the Cherry picker, they said they were unsure about the fuel usage in these and would get back to me. One thing that did crop up and something one needs to be careful of is things like an old landrover parked up in the yard for use within the farm, if its not sorn they can still impose penalties on you the same as if its on the road. So irrespective of MOT or tax it needs to be sorn to be exempt from a nick. Also among the small talk an officer was saying about confiscating a lot of tractors recently that were engaged in non ag use while on red. Bob
  15. Neat stoves. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=184829&stc=1&d=1435241821http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=184830&stc=1&d=1435241821
  16. 628kg over but it was a ton over on the back axle. It basically means on these crew cabs all the load which is not very much needs to be all up on the headboard with nothing on the bed of the truck past the back axle Bob
  17. Blaggy there must be a tree surgeon/forester near you. Just touch base with them and work out a deal. That last lot was gone before I locked up last night Bob
  18. I like the concept but dont understand why there is not a detachable hopper that clips to the machine so the bags can be filled and stacked. The hopper could come off then if its only needed for loading, it would be out of the way for normal stacking. The frame is unnecessary ish. Bob
  19. Been on forestry/landscape opps for the last few months so the Goblins are going to be hungry. Tipped off at 5pm. One has pulled up in less than a minute , I reckon two hours to clear if they are feeling energetic Bob
  20. Wow a 1954 landy, twas my first ever car on the road . Brilliant. Bob
  21. I went there a couple of weeks ago Jon because I hate crowds, its a load of cods . Nothing lines up, total waste of time. Bob
  22. I wont name and shame but when I have sent failed blade`s back for analysis and a refund they mysteriously disappear, this has happened twice over a period of time . The steel used is no secret and would be the same no matter who you buy them from, the difference comes from the hardening process and this is where I believe the problems lay. Why not send them to an independent lab for analysis, if it comes back as a faulty blade you will be able to seek reimbursement and damages. Bob
  23. It may pay to have a quick look at a few things that could have possibly caused the blades to fail. A worn or shouldered anvil will give a blade a battering as will too large a gap between blade and anvil. Also a walking flywheel if there is slop in the bearings. Bob
