It's a splitting maul, get someone with an angle grinder to straighten the edge up and put a bit of an edge on it and away you go. I took a chunk out of my cheap maul and had to take 1/2" off the cutting edge. After I sharpened it I found it worked far better than it ever had before.

You have to make sure the chain doesn't lift when you clamp it as well.

It's a 36cc saw so it's not a 435 equivalent. The clutch spring looks a bit slack. Get the clutch off and check the oil pump drive behind it. Until you eliminate one problem for definite it's all guesswork.

I took my friend's lad to pick up a MS181 and the shop (Belmont, Sth Normanton) went through the start procedure and showed him how to tension the chain and where to put fuel and bar oil. Unfortunately no one showed his dad who filed the fuel tank with bar oil first time he used it.

Was that before or after you sharpened it ? I did one on my friend's electric saw and the angles and tooth lengths were all over the place and it practically cut round corners before it was done.

Years ago when we were at our previous house there was a nest every year in what we called the dustbin hole on the rafters. One year I went out to find the nest had fallen and two young uns with the parents flying in and out panicking. I nailed a margarine tub up and put the remains of nest and baby birds in and they came and carried on feeding then fligged as normal.

If you are only using it occasionally I wouldn't worry about the discs yet they last ages. A shop near us sells a similar grinder which uses the same size discs and they usually have spares in stock. Amazon sells them if you are looking for online supplies.

Do they cover the spanners with individual moving parts ? I have heard of people being refused replacements for ratchet parts out of warranty.

I've done this without the rope tie in bit. Screw a batten to your scaffold board to wedge the base of the ladder. Just looked at the picture again, can't you put a plank out the window below it and get a couple of heavy mates to stand on it while you go out to do the job ? (done that as well)
